Release Date for Season 3 of After Life
Season 2 of ‘After Life’ will premiere on Netflix on April 24, 2020. The 2nd season consists of six episodes, each lasting between 25 and 31 minutes.
Here’s everything we know about the possibility of another season. Ricky Gervais inked a multi-year contract with the streaming behemoth on May 6, 2020, which includes the show’s renewal for a third season, owing to the show’s popularity and positive critical acclaim.
Ricky Gervais announced the start of the production on April 19, 2021. The 3rd season’s filming lasted approximately 35 days, largely in Hertfordshire, England, until June 4, 2021, with no foreseeable delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On September 1, 2021, Gervais said that the season’s edit and soundtrack had been completed, and that grading would begin the next day.
Despite the fact that neither Gervais nor Netflix have guaranteed a release date, the former has expressed his “concern” about the third season’s arrival in 2021.
Given the circumstances mentioned above, we anticipate the third season of ‘After Life’ to premiere in First Quarter of 2022.
Who is in the cast of After Life Season 3?
The ensemble cast, led by creator-director
- Ricky Gervais as protagonist Tony Johnson,

In addition, a few regulars from the series’ supporting cast will return, including

Following the death of Ray Johnson in seasons 1 and 2, David Bradley (‘Harry Potter’ film series) will not reprise his role as Ray Johnson in season 3.
What is the plot of Season 3 of After Life?
Tony’s father, Ray Johnson, who had been suffering from dementia, died at the end of the second season, adding to the sadness Tony had been carrying since the death of his loving wife.
Tony requests quiet and space from his acquaintances in the dying minutes of season 2, which only leads to suicidal thoughts. Thankfully, Emma’s visit to his house interrupts his suicide attempt.
Following this, Emma accepts Tony’s invitation to be a part of his life, despite his preoccupation with Lisa’s death.
Season 3 could start with Emma integrating herself into Tony’s life in the context of a possible relationship.
With Emma present and his father absent, the season is expected to provide answers to the questions Tony has been asking himself about his existence and the fragility of life, as well as the decisions and choices he must make to move his life ahead.
“Series two was awful enough,” creator Ricky Gervais stated in an interview with the Daily Star, “but in series three, there are two of the cast who perform the worst thing I’ve ever seen done for television,” hinting dramatic changes in Tony’s life.
In addition, Anne’s life may take new turns in the third season, as she meets a new companion at the graveyard.
