Candice Parchment Fatal Attraction – A teen’s abrupt disappearance in Clayton County, Georgia, in 2010 ended in tragedy when her remains were discovered a few months later in a forested location.
However, in a frustrating turn of events, there wasn’t much evidence to help the investigators discover her killer.
Candice Parchment’s murder was solved thanks to an odd find made by her mother Caffian Hyatt more than a year after the teen’s death, according to Investigation Discovery’s ‘The Truth in the Diary.’ So, shall we investigate what transpired?
How Did Candice Parchment of Georgia Die?
Candice Parchment was a 15-year-old girl who lived with her mother, Caffian Hyatt, in Clayton County, Georgia. She was a Forest Park High School student in Georgia, and she had a bright future ahead of her.
Candice was close to her mother, thus her abrupt departure from home on April 28, 2010, was unusual. Despite numerous attempts, Caffian was unable to contact her daughter.
Candice’s phone did, however, send her two SMS stating that she was well and in Tennessee. Caffian, on the other hand, did not think her daughter sent them and continued her hunt for her.
Candice’s bones were discovered under a mattress in a forested area near her home in November 2010, bringing the hunt to a stop. She was stabbed and strangled to death, according to the autopsy.

Who killed Candice Parchment of Georgia?
Candice had survived an attempted sexual assault three months before to her abduction. Caffian was driving around seeking for her daughter on January 5, 2010, when she came across an abandoned house’s driveway.
Candice just told her mother she had been attacked at the time, but she didn’t say who it was. Candice did not report it to the police, despite Caffian’s pleas. Sadly, she vanished more than three months later, and her body was discovered in November 2010.
Caffian discovered Candice’s diary while preparing for relocation in October 2011, and the case moved ahead from there.
Marshae Hickman and Jermaine Robinson, two teens from the region, were named as her assailants in a journal post dated January 5, 2010.
“Jermaine whacked her in the head with a rake, and Marsha barred the door” to keep her from fleeing, according to the diary. After that, Jermaine choked Candice while Marshae molested her.
Caffian had called Candice around this time and spoke with her briefly; she had also stopped by the abandoned house, causing the two guys to fear and flee. Marshae had also threatened to kill Candice if she told anyone about what had transpired.
When the authorities learned of this, they checked them up and discovered Marshae was already in detention for a separate burglary case. When confronted, he acknowledged to wrapping his arms around Candice’s neck and squeezing her until she went limp.
Despite the fact that Candice had also been stabbed, Marshae only admitted to strangling her. He claimed to have blacked out when it happened, but authorities suspect he went back to the scene multiple times to make sure Candice’s body wasn’t there.
Marshae lived in an apartment complex near where the bodies were discovered. Marshae allegedly urged Jermaine to punch Candice and choke her, threatening to kill both of them if he didn’t comply.

Marshae Hickman and Jermaine Robinson: Where Are They Now?
Marshae Hickman apologised for what transpired in a letter at his trial in April 2013, writing, “I am sorry for what I have done.” I was in the wrong frame of mind, and it still bothers me. I hope I could resurrect her.”
Marshae was found guilty of malice murder, felony murder, false imprisonment, attempted rape, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, aggravated violence, and concealing a death when she was 21 years old.
Jermaine was most likely the killer, according to the defence, because he knew more about the incident. He mentioned Candice getting stabbed before. Marshae’s lawyer also alleged that her client was pressured into a confession and quizzed for a long time.
He was eventually condemned to life in jail without the possibility of parole, as well as an additional 20 years in prison.
Marshae was also sentenced to 50 years in prison for the attack and attempted rape. Jermaine testified against Marshae after pleading guilty to aggravated assault.
Jermaine has since been freed from prison and appears to have stayed out of trouble, as far as we can determine.
He’s kept a low profile since then, with his latest known whereabouts being Forest Park, Georgia. Marshae is currently incarcerated at Telfair State Prison in McRae-Helena, Georgia.
