What Did Diamond do to Mercedes? What Method Did He Use to Heal Her? – P-Valley, a Starz series, is back on the air. The show follows the women who work at the popular strip club, The Pynk, in the fictional town of Chucalissa, Mississippi. However, things at the club are substantially different than they were in the past, thanks to the proprietors, Uncle Clifford (Nicco Annan) and Autumn Night (Elarica Johnson).
Mercedes (Brandee Evans) has returned to the club, while Keyshawn, a.k.a. Miss Mississippi (Shannon Thornton), has moved on. Diamond (Tyler Lepley) has also permanently left The Pynk. That hasn’t stopped us from learning a great deal more about him, though.
P-Valley Season 2 will disclose more about Diamond’s Past?
On P-Valley, there are a lot of mysterious characters. Autumn’s mysterious past was the focus of much of the first season. Diamond’s backstory will be revealed in Season 2 of the show. As we all know, the stoic bouncer drew the attention of everyone who passed by. Despite her turbulent relationship with her boyfriend, Derrick, he looked captivated by Keyshawn (Jordan M. Cox).
Despite the fact that any romance between the two appears to be over with the events of Murda Night, we will learn more about Diamond’s background this season. “We won’t know for sure until we’re back in the room, but it’ll probably be! When asked about Diamond’s past, the P-Valley writers’ room tweeted, “While his PTSD does not define him, it is an integral part of him.” “Diamond, all of that violence and mayhem in the finale is going to have a significant impact.”
In episode 202, “Seven Pounds of Pressure,” fans were shocked to learn of Diamond’s enormous secret. We knew the bouncer was in the military and had been dishonourably discharged from the Marines for a long time. Fans, on the other hand, learnt just what Diamond is capable of in this episode. After Autumn and Mercedes killed Montavius, he and Big L (Morocco Omari) got rid of his body.
Diamond also does root work, as we discovered. For example, after Mercedes collides with the ground owing to her wounded shoulder, he performs hoodoo on her in an attempt to repair her arm.
Before the season ends, it appears that we will learn a great deal more about Diamond. Hopefully, he’ll return to The Pynk as well.
What Did Diamond Do to Mercedes to Heal Her?
Mercedes’ shoulder is being treated with rootwork by Diamond. Rootwork is a historic Black American medicinal technique that originated in the Southern states. According to sources, the practise began during the Antebellum period, when slavery was prevalent. A rootwork healer relies primarily on the magical aetiology of illness, whether through sorcery or the use of treatments such as herbs and medications. When Mercedes falls, Diamond uses a special stone to identify and remove seven pounds of pressure from her shoulder region, which is the source of her ailment. He also utilises finger snaps to identify the pressure on her body and release it.
When Mercedes informs Diamond that she has been experiencing a weight in her shoulder area, he understands that her ailment isn’t typical. He makes use of his healing abilities to ensure that the illness is supernatural. After removing the unseen pressure from her body, Diamond confirms it. He discovers it weights seven pounds, the exact amount of force required to pull a gun’s trigger. Diamond opens his window after weighing the pressure, which unexpectedly vanishes.
The fact that the pressure from Mercedes’ body equals the exact amount of pressure required to pull a trigger suggests that Mercedes is the one who shot Montavius, according to Diamond. Mercedes is helped by Diamond’s rootwork talents not only to recognize that she has been bearing the aftereffects of her actions but also to be liberated from her illness so that she can continue working at The Pynk while competing with the newcomers. Despite Hailey’s reservations, Clifford’s decision to contact Diamond proves to be correct.
Through ‘P-Valley,’ the show’s creator, Katori Hall, has always endeavoured to delve into the cultural and historical features of the American South. Diamond’s rootwork is an example of this type of element. The American South’s diverse culture includes rootwork and voodoo rituals. Even though modern medicine has mostly superseded traditional medical practices, the latter appears to be a part of the region’s contemporary culture.
Katori Hall also seamlessly integrates the cultural element of rootwork into the episode’s narrative rather than forcing it as an afterthought. For example, in the scene featuring Diamond’s rootwork, Hall explains one of the show’s major unsolved questions, the identity of the person who really shot Montavius. After assuring Hailey that he had taken care of her ex-body, boyfriend’s Diamond keeps Montavius’ ring with him as protection, as per his beliefs.
On ‘P-Valley,’ will Diamond and Keyshawn get Together?
It doesn’t appear that Keyshawn and Diamond will ever reunite after Keyshawn shot Diamond in the season 1 finale of P-Valley and returned to her violent partner. In fact, after their altercation at the dollar store in the season 2 opener, it appears that Diamond will never talk to Keyshawn again.
We doubt she and Diamond will ever cross paths again now that she’s scheduled to embark on a tour with Lil Murda (J. Alphonse Nicholson). However, in the YouTube video, Katori Hall says, “As we move ahead into her next chapter, you will see her coping with that error, and truly coming into her own as a woman, as a mother, and as an artist.”
