A modest act might often be all it takes to change a potential foe into a friend. That is the case for Landis and the Canfield family in the latest episode of When Calls the Heart, who form an unexpected friendship. The reappearance of a favourite character and a memorable moment between Lucas and Elizabeth in the Hallmark Channel series’ April 3 episode may hint to things to come.
Rosemary and Lee’s marital difficulties reach a turning point in Season 9 episode 5 of ‘When Calls the Heart,’ titled ‘Journey into Light.’ At the same time, Minnie chooses to take a different approach to Mr. Landis. Nathan’s niece Allie returns to Hope Valley, much to everyone’s surprise, and their bond grows stronger.
When Lucas buys a motorcycle and dares Nathan to a race, things get even more intriguing. Fiona returns from her trip while the townspeople gather to clap for them, but she irritates Henry. Here’s a rundown of what happened, as well as a closer look at the Season 9 episode 5 ending of ‘When Calls the Heart.’

Rosemary tells Elizabeth that she thinks Lee has lost interest in her since the two of them started working together. Before they can debate anything more, Allie and Nathan ride back into Hope Valley, and Allie is overjoyed to see them.
She later expresses her dissatisfaction with him for failing to inform her about his accident. As Allie conveys her worries and discusses her crush on Robert, they both share an emotional moment when she refers to Nathan as her father.
In other news, Lee seeks Joseph’s assistance with a task, while Bill tries to coach Michael on how to be a more presentable mayor. Meanwhile, Nathan is suspicious of Lucas’s dealings with Wyman Walden and attempts to question him.
After surprising Elizabeth by purchasing Lee’s motorcycle, Lucas challenges Nathan to a friendly race. Minnie, on the other hand, bumps into Mr. Landis in the saloon and, much to his surprise, asks him to supper at their home.
For Minnie’s sake, Mr. Landis arrives at the Canfield residence for dinner, and Minnie asks Cooper to be courteous. Mr. Landis, who is impressed by their hospitality, also opens up and explains how he used to be a music teacher but finally changed jobs to become a school inspector in order to make more money.
He and Angela enjoy playing the piano together, and he later informs Elizabeth that the experience has motivated him to return to his previous position. Furthermore, he promises to give all his all to get her certification accepted.
After Fiona returns from her business trip to San Francisco, Henry is disappointed that she defied him and persuaded Jerome Smith to buy Lucas‘ petroleum firm shares. Lee tries unsuccessfully to persuade Florence to reveal Rosemary’s secret source’s name. Bill also cautions Michael against being too generous with Wyman and reminds him of his responsibilities as mayor.
Do Rosemary and Lee Solve Their Problems in Season 9 Episode 5 of ‘When Calls the Heart’?
Lee continues to spend more periods of time away from home and avoids Rosemary, leading her to feel that they have drifted apart as a result of working together at the newspaper. Her suspicions are confirmed when she discovers a poem on his desk that is similar to the ones he penned for her previously. Fearing the worst, she confides in Elizabeth about her concerns, implying that Lee may be disloyal to her.
Meanwhile, Lee has no such plans and is occupied with planning a surprise for his wife with Joseph’s help. However, he does a lousy job of making excuses in front of her, which gets him into trouble. Lee asks Rosemary to return home early after Lucas and Nathan’s race. When she arrives, he gives her the wooden chairs he built with Joseph’s aid for them to sit in together in their garden.
Rosemary is moved by Lee’s kind gesture and recognises that the poetry he wrote for her was written specifically for her and that he loves her no matter what. After that, the pair agrees to keep things the same and always to make time for each other outside of work.
Lucas or Nathan, Who Will win the Race Episode 9×05?
Nathan chooses to compete in a horse race against Lucas and borrows Elizabeth’s horse Sergeant for the occasion, while his own horse Newton is still recovering. Lucas, who purchased Lee’s motorcycle, prepares it for the race by repairing and preparing it. Nonetheless, Elizabeth is concerned about his excessively adventurous behaviour and attempts to warn him against it.
The Hope Valley people become ecstatic spectators on race day as Nathan and Lucas set off on their predetermined course. Unfortunately, Lucas’ motorcycle breaks down midway through the race, and he loses the race to Nathan and Sergeant. He also has to walk the motorcycle the rest of the way home.
All of this excitement convinces Lucas that his true happiness rests with Elizabeth and little Jack, and he decides to moderate his adventurous spirit in order to settle down. He and Elizabeth had an emotional talk in which they hint at getting married in the future, solidifying their relationship.
