Why Did Tyrone Lacour Kill Dennis Rowe?

Dennis Rowe confesses his sexual involvement with Michael Peterson to DA Jim Hardin and ADA Freda Black in the episode. When Jim and Freda inquire about Michael’s prior sexual connections, Rowe responds that Michael may have had sex with Tyrone Lacour. Tyrone finds out about Rowe’s discussion with the attorneys quickly.

Tyrone phones Rowe and threatens him with a phone call if he doesn’t stop talking about the former. Tyrone, on the other hand, kills Rowe without warning in the seventh episode of the show.

Tyrone enters Rowe’s house after waiting for him to leave in his car in the episode. Rowe comes to the house while Tyrone is inside, perhaps forgetting to do or remove something. Tyrone confronts him and beats him to death with a lantern. Radisch learns that the murder was the product of a “robbery gone bad” rather than a planned murder.

Rowe was actually beaten and stabbed before being dumped in a trash can. Rowe’s head was wrapped in a plastic bag, and his hands were tied behind him when his body was discovered. Duct tape was also used to wrap various bodily parts.

Tyrone was on the run until October 2006 after Rowe’s murder in November 2004. He was apprehended in Lancaster, Virginia, before being transported to North Carolina. He pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of Rowe in January 2009. Tyrone was imprisoned in North Carolina Central Prison for nearly 16 years for the murder of Rowe. He was freed from prison in June 2020.

Tyrone was accused of the 2001 murder of his then-roommate Eric Pennebaker, who was set on fire when he was in Person County, before Rowe’s murder. Tyrone informed the authorities that Eric’s death was a suicide at the time, but he was nevertheless charged with the case until it was dismissed in 2003. Despite this, he was never charged with Eric’s murder.
