Bel-Air Episode 9 Recap

Recap of Bel-Air Episode 9 ‘Can’t Knock the Hustle’

Near the end of episode 8, Will meets Geoffrey and asks him to find out everything he can about his father. Geoffrey sends Would his findings in an envelope in episode 9, titled ‘Can’t Knock the Hustle,’ but warns him that the knowledge will affect everyone around them, especially the Banks family.

Meanwhile, the Bankses are getting ready to go to church. Carlton is a choir singer, and an excellent one at that. However, he does poorly this time due to his anxiety difficulties. Will later goes out to Carlton after his vulnerable moment, at Hilary’s (Coco Jones) request, and prevents him from using drugs again. This enhances their friendship even more.

Will believes he doesn’t need to know about his father, Lou, and approaches Phil to discuss it. Phil has been more of a father to him than any other man in his life, he openly confesses.

It takes a long time for Will to admit this in the original series, but not in ‘Bel-Air.’ This isn’t to say that Lou won’t reemerge in the future or cause a significant gap between Will and Phil, but it appears like their connection is stable.

In a scene that provides pure fanservice for fans of the original series, Viv meets Janice and Helen. Vernee Watson and Daphne Reid, who played Vy and Viv in seasons 4-6 of ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,’ respectively, play Janice and Helen.

Viv is awarded the fellowship, and the two women advise her to think about it for the next 24 hours before responding. Meanwhile, Hilary and Jazz become closer as the latter assists the Banks siblings’ oldest sister in removing her belongings from the Crib of Influence.

Why Does Phil Withdraw from the District Attorney Race in Bel-Air Episode 9?

One of the key plot lines of the first season of ‘Bel-Air’ was Phil’s candidacy for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office. It understandably puts his family under a lot of stress and scrutiny, but they choose to put up with it because they love Phil.

But, on the eve of the discussion with Fred, Phil recognises that he doesn’t like who he’s becoming as a result of politics and how it’s affecting his family.

Carlton’s anxiousness has deteriorated, Hilary is unable to pursue her passions, and Viv may have to abandon her aspirations once more for the sake of him and the family.

He also dismisses Geoffrey, who has been his best buddy for all intents and purposes, for helping Will obtain information on Lou. He’s also ready to bring Fred down by falsely accusing him of infidelity.

When Wil and Carlton discover through Lisa that Fred is aware of the arrest, they rush to inform Phil. Phil withdraws from the race in order to protect his entire family, including Will, and puts their needs ahead of his own. He also pledges to back Fred’s campaign wholeheartedly.

The episode seemed to be setting up a fight between Phil and Judge Robertson. He was able to get Will out of police custody with the help of the latter. Robertson, who is ruthless and crooked, decides to back Fred’s campaign and informs him of Will’s imprisonment.

Phil takes on his former mentor Carl Robertson in season 3 of the original series and eventually becomes a judge. We might have this feud in season 2 of ‘Bel-Air,’ based on how the storey is developing.
