What Caused Molly Watson’s Death?

Molly Nicole Watson was born in December 1982 in Moberly, Missouri. She was characterised as a smart and beautiful woman who was devoted to her family.

The 35-year-old lived in Huntsville, Missouri, and worked at Burrell Behavioral Center in Moberly.

Her family was aware that she had been seeing James Addie for several years and that they were preparing to marry at a hotel in Columbia, Missouri, around the end of April 2018. Aside from that, Molly had a son from a prior relationship, Declan.

On April 27, 2018, at about 10 p.m., a passer-by in Middle Grove called 911 after seeing a dead corpse on a rural road near a junction.

Molly Watson was identified as the deceased when authorities arrived. Molly was shot in the back of the head with the bullet still lodged in her skull, despite initial reports indicating that her injuries were compatible with blunt force trauma.

Who Killed Molly Watson?

The authorities then considered Molly’s friends and family. She had been seeing James Addie for almost seven years, and he worked as a Moberly Prison lieutenant.

They had applied for a marriage licence two days before Molly was discovered dead, and they were planning to marry.

The police went to James’ given address in Santa Fe, Missouri, during the early hours of April 28, 2018.

When they found out that James was already married, they were taken aback. He shared the Santa Fe home with Melanie, his wife of more than two decades, and their daughter, Emma.

Melanie was taken aback when she found out about James’ relationship with Molly, claiming she had no idea he had been cheating on her for seven years.

The authorities decided to investigate James and his role in the murder at this time.

On the night of April 27, James went to visit a friend, but the acquaintance was not at home, according to James.

Melanie told the cops that James had gone around 7 p.m., and Emma said her father had returned home considerably later than he had said.

She also recognised her father’s bloody t-shirt from the crime scene. When a 911 caller reported seeing a man acting strangely at the homicide scene that night, more circumstantial evidence led to James.

Glenn McSparren, the caller, said he was driving to his mother’s house when he came upon two cars along the creek.

Only one automobile was visible when he returned 20 minutes later, and he discovered Molly’s body. The suspected man’s car was comparable to James’ car, according to Glenn.

Experts determined that the tyre tread impressions left at the site were consistent with James’ car’s tyres after further inspection.

In addition, two convicts stated that James discussed placing “someone face down in a ditch” with them.

In the end, James was found guilty of Molly’s murder in April 2021. Expert testimony, as well as statements from Melanie, Emma, and Glenn, convinced the jury that he murdered the 35-year-old three years ago.

James allegedly enticed Molly to the isolated site before shooting her in the head, according to the prosecution. For his conduct, he was condemned to life in jail.
