The best adolescent ghost hunters in London venture out each night to engage in a difficult fight with malevolent ghosts. A modest company called Lockwood & Co., run by two teenage boys and a girl with psychic abilities, stands out from the many adult-staffed companies because it is unconstrained by financial considerations or adult oversight and is destined to solve a riddle that will alter the course of history.

“Lucy Carlyle, a young psychic investigator, joins London’s smallest agency, run by the charismatic Anthony Lockwood and his ever-hungry assistant George Cubbins. Together the trio must investigate some of the spookiest and deadliest spectral hauntings in the city, armed only with the tools of the ghost-hunting trade (magnesium flares, iron filings, chains and salt bombs), their courage and a thermos of tea.”
Is Lockwood & Co. Based on a Book?
Yes, a novel served as the basis for the young supernatural series. The YA supernatural book series of the same name by British fantasy author Jonathan Stroud is its inspiration. The Screaming Staircase, The Whispering Skull, The Hollow Boy, The Creeping Shadow, and The Empty Grave are the five books that make up the Lockwood & Co. book series.
The first season includes content from The Screaming Staircase and The Whispering Skull, the first two books in the series, according to an interview Joe Cornish gave Empire Magazine. In addition, Cornish reassured viewers that there would be enough material for future seasons, so they don’t have to worry about what might occur. The decision to watch the show is up to Netflix customers if they wish to see the plot develop in a second season.
The author, who served as a consultant on the Netflix series, was asked if his eerie tale underwent any significant revisions.
“A few elements have been compacted, while others have been somewhat teased out. These modifications are inevitable. However, the key elements are painstakingly translated to the screen, including the primary plot, the world’s rules, and most importantly, the characters, “He clarified.
It’s been amazing to witness. “[Actors] Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati are perfect as my three heroes.” Also stated by the author was his amazement at “the extraordinary amount of detail with which my reality was brought to life.”
He said, “Lockwood’s home, 35 Portland Row, was built inside Ealing Studios, and every square inch of it was filled with the perfect books, trinkets, and possessions, down to the last salt bomb and rapier.
Lockwood & Co. will debut on Netflix on January 27, 2023.
