Phyllis Gardner: Who Is She?
Phyllis Gardner, an American biologist, was born on July 7, 1950, and is well known for being one of the first to question and challenge Elizabeth Holmes’ beliefs.
Gardner is played by actress Laurie Metcalf in the series premiere episode of ‘The Dropout.’ Metcalf is an Academy Award nominee who has been in films and television shows such as “Lady Bird,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” and “Frasier.”
The actress is best known for her portrayal as Jackie Harris in the sitcom ‘The Connors.’
Garder earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Illinois. She went on to Harvard Medical School, where she graduated in 1976.
Gardner enrolled at Stanford University in 1984. Gardner joined Stanford as a Senior Associate Dean for Education and Student Affairs in 1998. In 2002, Holmes approached Gardner to explore her idea for a blood-testing microfluidic device.
