Recap of Raised By Wolves Season 2 Episode 6

‘The Tree,’ is the title of the sixth episode of season 2. On Mother’s suggestion, Campion seeks to position himself as the settlement’s leader, with mixed results. With Marcus, Father and Lucius return to the colony.

Lucius is enraged that Mother has him imprisoned because he wants to kill the other man. Sue carefully conceals her genuine thoughts when she learns of the “terrorist’s” capture.

Sue has come to believe that the Signal is benevolent, even if it isn’t divine, since it saved Paul. She sneaks into Marcus’ office and confesses to him that she has become a believer.

Sue learns that Tempest and her baby are about to give birth at a routine check-up. Tempest is horrified when he hears this. She isn’t ready to receive the child who was conceived as a result of rape.

An atheist couple volunteered to take the child earlier in the season, but after Mother took control of the Collective, they were among the people who departed the village.

Tempest walks to the acid sea and gives birth on the rocky shores in a scenario rich with religious meaning. Mother was correct, she discovers. She feels compelled to touch and protect the infant the instant she sees it.

The baby’s cries, however, awaken one of the degenerated humans who now live beneath the water. It rises from the sea and rips Tempest’s infant from his arms. The creature’s chest opens like a vault, and the baby is placed inside. Tempest has scorched hands, is terrified, and is bereft of hope.

Meanwhile, Mother learns how far Father’s effort has advanced. Grandmother was developed thousands of years ago by the human civilisation that resided on Kepler-22b. Campion’s touch appears to jolt her awake.

She converses in Mithraic, an ancient language. Campion learns that Grandmother was the one who saved him from Tamerlane as she begins to shine with a golden hue.

After examining her, Father and Mother discover that Grandmother’s hardware is identical to Mother’s, with one exception: Grandmother has something unique and mysterious instead of the weapon system that Mother has as a Necromancer.

Mother decides to keep the ancient android away from the children for the time being.

What Happened to Sue

Ending of ‘Raised By Wolves’ Season 2 Episode 6: Is Sue Dead?

Sue used a strategy she saw in her vision to save Paul’s life in the previous episode. In episode 6, she follows the Signal’s orders and steals a dodecahedron box from the settlement’s vault, an ancient Mithraic item.

The Signal strongly advises her to sow the seed. She and Paul try to open the box with a laser beam, believing it’s inside. The Serpent begins screaming and becomes agitated as if it is in pain while doing nothing to the box.

Sue manages to free Marcus, and the three of them depart the village with Paul. Sue performs the Mithraic lullaby that Ambrose performed in episode 4 for Paul. The words of the lullaby open the box, revealing a seed inside, as Paul falls asleep.

Sue’s body absorbs the seed as soon as she places it in her hand. She takes a step back from Marcus and Paul. Her body seemed to have been taken over by something.

She quickly falls on her knees and begins digging. Marcus and Paul wake up the next morning to see a decently tall tree in front of them. Marcus cuts into one of the fruit’s meats and notices ripples in the tree’s bark.

This tree must be the stand-in for the Tree of Knowledge if Kepler-22b is supposed to depict the Garden of Eden. Marcus discovers what has happened to Sue after consuming its fruit, just as Paul calls for her.

Perhaps this is what the warning on Marcus’ metal card to Lucius earlier in the episode was about. A sacrifice was necessary for the tree’s effective implantation. Sue was the one who had to pay the price. She isn’t necessarily dead, but she has assimilated with the tree.
