The seventh episode of Hulu’s ‘The Girl from Plainville,’ titled ‘Teenage Dirtbag,’ delves into Michelle’s trial in the aftermath of Conrad’s suicide. Dr. Peter Breggin, the defense’s star witness, makes some convincing remarks and brings attention to the possibility that the medications Conrad and Michelle were taking at the time played a role in the catastrophe.
We get some intriguing images of Michelle and Conrad discussing his “plan” to make his death look like an accident as the courtroom drama unfolds. Michelle’s fate hangs in the balance at this critical juncture in the plot. Let’s take a deeper look at episode 7 of ‘The Girl from Plainville.’

Michelle finally hears back from Conrad in this episode, which picks up after the cliffhanger of episode 6. She tells him how terrified she was when he didn’t respond, and the two ultimately settle down and start conversing. Conrad says at one point that he doesn’t want to fail the next time he tries suicide.
Michelle answers sympathetically, suggesting that he should be open to trying anything. Conrad finally admits that there is nothing anyone can do to prevent him from killing himself.
Meanwhile, Dr. Breggin is called as a witness in Michelle’s 2017 trial. He immediately wins the court over with his in-depth knowledge of the effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) medicines on human behaviour. Both Michelle and Conrad’s acts are attributed to their anti-depressant prescriptions, according to him, with the former suffering from “involuntary drunkenness” in the days leading up to Conrad’s death.
In flashbacks from early July 2014, just weeks before Conrad’s death, we witness him and Michelle discussing ways for him to commit himself. The teenager wants it to appear as if he died in an accident so that no one feels bad about it. Michelle is occasionally overcome by Conrad’s apparent impending death and confides in her friend Natalie. Michelle informs her buddy that Conrad has gone AWOL, worried that he is ready to carry out his “plan.”
Is Michelle Going to Prison in The Girl from Plainville Episode 7?
In the “present-day” scenario, prosecutor Katie Rayburn is frustrated by Dr. Breggin’s testimony and first finds it difficult to refute it. She eventually persuades him to admit that his first assessment of Michelle may have been incorrect. In addition, the prosecution succeeds to cast doubt on the doctor’s idea of involuntary intoxication.
Michelle goes to her sister’s recital with her family after her day in court, but she has a terrifying vision while sitting in the audience. The episode closes with Michelle’s defence in jeopardy as flaws begin to surface in Dr. Breggin’s testimony. The prosecution forces the doctor to concede that involuntary intoxication isn’t a diagnosable illness after he initially makes it appear as if Michelle was acting under the influence of her medicine.
Michelle’s messages offering ways for Conrad to harm himself were also revealed in court. For the first time, Michelle’s soon-to-be-announced judgement seemed to be going against her. Michelle might face a sentence of twenty years in prison if she is found guilty of manslaughter, as the prosecution requires.
What does Michelle say about Conrad to her friends?
Michelle is concerned about Conrad’s death, even though Michelle and Conrad appear strangely calm as they debate options for Conrad to kill himself. She becomes enraged when Cassie makes jokes about their relationship, and she finally tells Natalie about Conrad under strict confidentiality.
Michelle does not say exactly what she tells Natalie, but it appears that she tells Natalie that Conrad intends to commit suicide. Michelle, on the other hand, does not appear to be totally honest with Natalie. Michelle informs Natalie that Conrad is missing after a particularly terrifying incident in which Conrad sends her a message stating, “see you in the next life.”
Michelle’s communication, in which she lies to Natalie, is one of her most perplexing acts. Michelle’s falsehood makes it appear like she is reaching out to Natalie for assistance, even if it appears that she is not. Michelle isn’t lying to hide up Conrad’s scheme because she has pledged Natalie to silence.
Michelle, on the other hand, appears to be fishing for sympathy by claiming he is missing even when he isn’t. It’s also likely that she’s attempting to manufacture an alibi for herself, hoping to remove herself from Conrad’s death by claiming he’s gone. Though it is unknown why Michelle informs Natalie that Conrad is missing, it is evident that she is not being entirely truthful.
