The Night Agent Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
The story kicks off seven months back with Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) in the hot seat, interviewing for her position at AdVerse. She claims she has no interest in being a CEO; her passion lies in writing code. In the current moment, Peter picks up Warren’s phone. A mysterious figure approaches him, remarking on how difficult he is to find, and expresses a desire to negotiate a deal. The audience discovers that the man from Bangkok is the one who received the thumb drive from Warren, yet Peter remains unaware. He urges Peter to surrender to his captors, warning that Rose’s safety hinges on his decision. At this moment, Peter comes to the realization of who he’s conversing with, and the fact that he can identify the man signals a looming danger for him. Peter turns down his offer.
With the sound of gunmen attempting to force their way in, Peter (Gabriel Basso) urgently contacts Rose, instructing her to find a place to conceal herself. The intruders burst in alongside Peter, unleashing a hail of gunfire. As Peter sprints ahead, he instructs Rose on how to dodge the pursuers hot on her trail. At one moment, she skillfully dodges their grasp, but soon after, she’s caught by the very man who passed the hard drive to the contact in Bangkok. He lunges for her, but she deftly stabs him in the arm and makes her getaway. Just as she bolts, a hand reaches out, yanking her into the shadows. It’s Catherine, everyone.
Catherine urges Rose to guide her to Peter, and Rose consents. Peter confronts Catherine, labeling her as untrustworthy. In response, she points out that he has withdrawn since Alice’s death, revealing his struggle with trust in the aftermath. However, although he claims he had no involvement in the job going awry, Catherine argues that he can’t substantiate his assertion. Instead, she declares that she’s removing him from the mission completely. He claims to be the sole person aware of the buyer’s identity and the source of the leaked information, which means she has to rely on him.
He discloses that the buyer’s crew took aim at Alice, followed by Warren, and then set their sights on Rose. He insists he won’t rest until he tracks down the buyer personally, and Catherine concedes that he can continue his search. They will track down the shooter who targeted Alice and took Rose, uncovering the identity of his employer in the process. In Peter’s apartment, Rose confides her suspicion that the buyer has traced her, ultimately leading to Peter. She also shares that Catherine has arranged a safe return for her to California.
At the Iranian residences, Noor (Arienne Mandi), her friend Haleh, and Haleh’s partner Bijan share a light-hearted moment, playfully teasing about Javad’s affection for Noor. Haleh steps in to take Noor’s place, allowing her to enjoy a lunch date with him. When Noor proposes the next day, Haleh responds that Abbas and Javad will be attending a clandestine meeting.
The following morning, Noor unexpectedly encounters Javad (Keon Alexander) on her commute and suggests they grab lunch together. He lets her know that he’s meeting Abbas for lunch, and she proposes to join him wherever he’s headed. He turns down the offer, but she responds by saying she’ll hold off and eat when he returns. Meanwhile, Rose confides in Peter, revealing that her therapist believes she hasn’t fully dealt with her past experiences. He confesses that he often envisions Alice’s demise. He concurs with Catherine’s suggestion that she should be placed under protection.
In the meantime, Noor heads to a store and picks up a tracking device, which she discreetly slips into Abbas’s coat. She follows Abbas and Javad, observing as they step into a building. Back at the apartment, Rose employs her skills to locate Arthur, the alias of the gunman connected to Warren, who shot Alice and assaulted her. She conducts a thorough search, discarding all the aliases he’s used and focusing solely on his identity from the time before those names emerged.
In another corner, two guys are clinking glasses at a local watering hole. There’s a character named Tomás who refers to another character as Elliot and mentions that his father is incarcerated in The Hague. He’s looking for Elliot to set up a meeting with the foreign secretary to lend a hand. He declines and states that the foreign secretary will not support a perilous war criminal. Sloane, Tomás’s girlfriend, arrives, interrupting the flow of their discussion.
Noor keeps her eyes on the building and sees a man arrive; it’s Arthur, the person Rose and Peter have been searching for. She snaps a picture of him. In the apartment, Rose discovers an article from six years back about a fallen Marine named Solomon Vega, noting that he is survived by his sister, Celeste. As she presses on with her quest, she finds herself locked out, a message flashing that her user account has been disabled. Artoun, her boss, reaches out to her, inquiring about the changes she’s making to his code. He believes she’s catching him off guard to secure a backer. She claims she’s on a quest to find her mom, but he insists she’s locked out of AdVerse and must return to California to check if her job is still waiting for her. Luckily, Peter managed to dig up some information on Solomon’s sister and uncovered an address.
Meanwhile, Noor captures additional images of the man who met with Abbas, along with shots of Abbas holding a briefcase that has been exchanged. She sends the photos, but the guy she’s working for insists they’re useless unless they can figure out what’s in the briefcase. She proposes that she investigates, but he warns her that it’s perilous. Determined to rescue her family from Iran, she declares that she will make it happen.
Rose and Peter head over to see Solomon’s sister, Celeste. They act as if they’re searching for him since Rose’s father was a Marine who served with Solomon. She reveals that her brother took his own life. Celeste shares that her brother took care of her following the tragic incident where she lost her legs in a hit-and-run. After their departure, Peter has taken a bank statement that uncovers she’s been receiving payments from a company named KinCare Trust. They believe this will guide them to Solomon’s buyer. Rose shares the discoveries with Catherine and requests an extension of their stay, opting to remain instead of returning to California under protection as originally intended.
Following their clandestine meeting, Javad and Noor head out for lunch, exchanging playful banter and flirtatious glances. Meanwhile, Catherine has a conversation with Rose and Peter. She claims that Solomon has been entirely erased from the system. Instead, she’ll begin exploring KinCare Trust. As Peter grapples with his trust issues regarding Catherine, he probes her about the events in Bangkok. However, she insists that she uncovered no evidence of a leak. Peter reveals to Rose what Warren disclosed regarding Foxglove, the military weapons initiative, and Rose insists that Peter play her the tape from the recording device he had concealed from Catherine. As he performs the scene, the episode transitions to men operating a truck, only to be ambushed off the road by armed assailants led by a figure named Markus. He takes out the men and makes off with the truck, but the contents remain a mystery for now.
Even though they decided that Rose should return home, Peter is on board to ensure her safety. Meanwhile, Catherine reveals the photos from Noor that capture Solomon in a meeting with Abbas, the Iranian ambassador. Catherine informs Peter that they are assuming control of Noor’s case and will have a meeting with her tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Markus reaches out to Tomás, the guy who crossed paths with Elliot at the bar earlier, seeking assistance for his father who is trapped in The Hague. It comes to light that they share a familial bond, and Markus admits that despite their original scheme, he took matters into his own hands by eliminating the men and making off with the entire truck. Tomás appears visibly shaken by this unexpected turn of events.
