Tina Short and Nickie Ford: Who Are They?

Cathy Whitehead was engaged to John Short and preparing to marry when she was murdered.

Hazel Short, John’s ex-wife, didn’t take her divorce well and carried grudges towards Cathy.

Hazel’s hatred and resentment drove her to plot a murder involving her daughter Tina, her lover Donald, and her nephew Nickie.

Hazel was the mastermind behind the scheme to kidnap Cathy from her home, torture her, then burn her alive before strangling her.

Donald enticed the victim out of her home and led her to a payphone nearby. Cathy was kidnapped and hustled into a car at the payphone, where Tina drove her about as Nickie supposedly sat in the passenger seat.

The victim was then dragged out of the car and stabbed in the arm before being imprisoned in the trunk. She was then driven to Gwinnett County, where she was imprisoned in the trunk of an abandoned car by the perpetrators.

Cathy was then forced out of the trunk, severely burned in a fire, and strangled to death before being dumped in an abandoned well.

Tina Short and Nickie Ford: Where Are They Now?

After authorities discovered how he had been talking to others about the victim and her disappearance, Donald Everett was the first to be detained.

Under duress, he broke down and immediately named Hazel, Tina, and Nickie as suspects. Tina and Nickie were captured almost quickly by the authorities, who admitted to their roles in the crimes.

They both maintained, however, that Hazel was behind the crime and that they were simply carrying out her orders.

Tina was arrested and charged with kidnapping. She refused to testify in court and was sentenced to 20 years in jail in 1986.

Nickie consented to testify at the same time and was acquitted of all counts by the jury.

Despite the fact that Tina was released after serving six years of her 20-year sentence on the show, Tina and Nickie now live private lives, and their present whereabouts are unknown.
