Who Is Katherine Pierce?
As soon as Katherine Pierce met and became acquainted with Scott Pierce, she knew he was the one. The couple wed in June 2008 after rapidly falling in love and getting to know one another. Katherine was very hospitable and generous. Helping those in need came naturally to her. Even though she was extremely protective of her loved ones, those she befriended praised her for being outgoing and fast to make friends. Katherine and her new husband purchased a home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and subsequently relocated there to start a family.
Katherine and Scott spent a few wonderful days together following their wedding, but fate intervened on June 28, 2008, when tragedy struck. Katherine recalled that she had already passed out when she heard a bunch of dogs crying so loudly that she was terrified that someone had broken into their home. When Katherine felt a presence behind her, she left the bedroom to investigate. As she turned back, she discovered an intruder holding a sawed-off shotgun to her head. The intruder insisted on knowing where Manny was hiding and refused to accept Katherine’s denial that she knew anyone by that name. Scott rushed into the room as soon as he was made aware of the disturbance to determine who was generating the uproar. After a brief scuffle, the intruder shot Scott in the neck before fleeing.
Katherine raced to assist Scott after noticing that he was seriously bleeding and immediately dialed 911. Unfortunately, Scott’s gunshot wound was too severe, and he died before the police or paramedics arrived. Notably, the police first suspected Katherine of being implicated in the killing of her husband. However, the show did reveal that subsequent investigations proved her innocence. Katherine subsequently worked extensively with law enforcement officials to identify the perpetrator of her husband’s horrible death.
The police soon located Manny, who acknowledged that Jason Skaggs was, in fact, the seller of the home purchased by Katherine and Scott. After first maintaining his innocence in response to interrogation, Jason Skaggs eventually broke down and admitted to knowing the gunman. This led officers to Clifton Bloomfield’s apartment, where they recovered a shotgun, a mask, and a bulletproof vest. Clifton immediately admitted to the murder but claimed that Scott was a victim of mistaken identity because his own DNA was discovered at the scene. Despite this, Clifton was arrested for his role in the murder of Scott and jailed without bail until trial.
Where Is Katherine Pierce Today?
Katherine mustered the fortitude to confront Scott’s murderer Clifton in court, and her testimony was crucial in gaining Clifton’s conviction. Katherine was astonished to find that DNA evidence had tied Clifton to four other killings and that she had been extraordinarily fortunate to survive the day her husband was murdered. She was also happy that Clifton’s 195-year sentence for the five murders would keep him securely incarcerated.
Katherine launched a civil complaint against the Albuquerque Police Department in 2010, alleging that Scott’s life could have been saved if the police had discovered and apprehended the murderer responsible for the earlier killings. Katherine was prepared for trial, but the city paid her $439,000 to settle the dispute and avoid a trial. Although it was reported in 2012 that Katherine was living in Albuquerque and engaged to another man, her current location is unknown because she has decided to pursue a reclusive lifestyle.
