Where is Nims Purja Now? – “Finding Michael” is a Disney+ documentary that follows Matthews as he attempts to locate and reclaim the corpse of his deceased older brother Michael, who vanished in 1999 after becoming the youngest British climber to summit Everest.
Michael Matthews disappeared in May of 1999. By ascending Everest’s summit, he became the youngest British mountaineer to accomplish it. Spencer was a mere ten years old at the time of Michael’s disappearance. A stranger did not send a snapshot from Everest depicting a faint image of a body wearing a summit suit of Michael’s preferred colour until 2017.
Nirmal “Nims” Purja, also known as Nimsdai Purja, was an indispensable team member. Spencer Matthews contacted the mountaineer due to his experience climbing at elevations of more than 26,000 feet. If you want to learn more about him, here is the detail.

Who is Nims Purja?
Nims Purja (Nirmal “Nims” Purja), born on July 25, 1993, in Myagdi, Nepal, is a Nepalese mountaineer and former Gurkha soldier renowned for his record-breaking achievements in this field.
Purja served in the British Army as a Gurkha soldier before following his passion for mountaineering. In 2012, he made his first high-altitude climb and has gained notoriety within the mountaineering community since then.
After leaving the British Army in 2018, Purja set his sights on a new challenge: to break the record for climbing all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks. This feat had previously been achieved by Kim Chang-ho of South Korea, who achieved it over seven years, ten months and six days. However, Purja had even greater aspirations and intended to complete all 14 peaks within seven months.
Purja devised a strategy that involved scaling several peaks simultaneously, drawing upon his military training and experience to push himself beyond what was possible. He also relied on his team of Sherpas for assistance in navigating treacherous terrain and providing him with essential supplies and support.
Despite facing numerous obstacles along the way, such as adverse weather conditions and lack of funding, Purja reached his goal and completed “Bremont Project Possible” within six months and six days – breaking his previous record by seven years!
Purja’s achievements have earned him numerous honours and awards, such as the Pride of Nepal Award in 2019 and a Guinness World Record for climbing three of the world’s highest mountains simultaneously: Everest, K2 and Kangchenjunga.
