Who is Warren Jeffs and Where is He Now?

Where is Warren Jeffs Today? Is He still alive or dead? Let’s find out information about him.

Who Is Warren Jeffs?

Warren Steed Jeffs is the president of the polygamous Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS Church). He was born on December 3, 1955. He was convicted of two charges of felony child sexual assault in 2011 and is currently serving a life sentence plus twenty years.

For his escape from claims that he had arranged illicit weddings between his adult male followers and minor girls in Utah, Jeffs was placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List in 2006. In 2007, Arizona accused him with eight additional counts, including incest and sexual activity with minors, in two distinct incidents.

Jeffs was convicted of two counts of rape as an accomplice in September 2007, and he was sentenced to ten years to life in Utah State Prison. The Utah Supreme Court overturned this conviction in 2010 due to faulty jury instructions.

Jeffs was extradited to Texas, where he was found guilty of sexual assault of a child (for sex with a 15-year-old he had married) and aggravated sexual assault against a child (for sex with a 12-year-old he had married), for which he received a life sentence plus twenty years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Warren Jeffs’ Sex crimes Allegations

Warren Jeffs made news in 2005 when he was charged with rape and sexual assault of a juvenile, as well as arranging a teen’s marriage to her cousin. Furthermore, he was previously accused of sexually molestation of his nephew while he was a child. This was the first of several charges that would eventually lead to his conviction.

In 2011, he was sentenced to prison for rape and other sexual acts, including arranging marriages between adolescents and older men. In addition, evidence of underage females being sexually exploited was discovered during a raid on his facility. As a result, he was condemned to life in jail. Two of his children came to the front in 2015 to tell about how Jeffs sexually assaulted them as children.

Rachel Jeffs, his daughter, went forward about how her father sexually molested her when she was a child. “I mean, initially, displaying what a male looked like,” she stated in an interview. Then, as a small child, he began sexually abusing me. And it was so contrary to his principles…”

He even promised to take her to bookstores and show her pornographic stuff, she alleged. Roy Jeffs, Jeffs’ son, has also come forward to say that his father assaulted him as a child, and that growing up was a daily struggle for him. In the year 2019, he took his own life. As a result, many people have come out to tell about the atrocities they experienced while living in the FLDS religion.

Warren Jeffs: Prophet of Evil,’ an A&E documentary, was released in 2018. This was one of the numerous documentaries about him that were made. Jeffs is said to have over 70 spouses, each of whom has given birth to multiple offspring. Every man and woman in the cult were obligated to obey him as the spiritual leader. There was a sex audiotape of one of his so-called “devout sessions” in which he had sex with a minor in the case hearing.

When he was first imprisoned, he attempted to hang himself, but it was an unsuccessful endeavour. Later, he starved himself to death, prompting officials to intervene and force-feed him. After he was convicted, he went through a similar sequence before being placed in a medically induced coma for a while.

He is still thought to have a lot of power over his fellow inmates in prison. Some members of the cult continue to believe that he is their saviour. “If people will follow [Jeffs’] teachings of faith and love even in part, they will not commit suicide,” Maggie Jessop, a fervent FLDS member, remarked.

Is Warren Jeffs Still being held in Custody? Is He Still Alive?

Warren Jeff is still alive and is serving a life sentence in Texas’ Louis C. Powledge Unit Prison. He had a mental breakdown in 2019, according to reports. After then, the claim determined that he was unable to give a deposition in a case that had been brought against him. Many more cases have been filed against him in the years since his conviction. Because past FLDS members who were sexually exploited have filed legal actions against him and his trust, this is the case.

“The trust has received information that Warren Jeffs has had a mental breakdown, and there appears to be a high chance that Warren Jeffs is not mentally competent to deliver admissible testimony,” the trust’s community lawyers said. As a result, Warren Jeffs is still serving his sentence in prison, with the possibility of parole in 2038.

‘Preaching Evil: A Wife on the Run With Warren Jeffs’ premieres on Peacock’s True Crime Tuesday, April 26.
