After serial rapist Jeffrey Hudson escaped due to a series of ransomware attacks, 9-1-1 will continue tonight.

The emergency helicopter is prepared to descend on the roof carrying an organ for transplant when the city becomes dark, and the helicopter falls precariously on the building’s side.

The crew ignores the generators and rushes to the roof. Capt. Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) and Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark) race towards the chopper as Henrietta “Hen” Wilson (Aisha Hinds) hops aboard and tells Manny to hold on while she promises to bring him out. He looks afraid as the chopper shifts.

Howie “Chimney” Han (Kenneth Choi), who can flip Manny onto the board and feel his fingers and toes, describes what they’re going to do.

They secure the board with the fire hose, but before getting him out, he asks for the transplanted heart, which they say they must return for.

The crew tries to stabilise the helicopter so Bobby can get the heart; however, the wire gives way and the chopper crashes, but Bobby and the heart are saved.

AFTER FOUR DAYS

The mortality toll has risen to 15, primarily as a result of heat exhaustion; cooling centers have lost electricity, and hospitals are overburdened.

Meanwhile, Michael Grant (Rockmond Dunbar) is on the phone with Athena Grant (Angela Bassett), throwing a party for the neighbours because their house is the only one with electricity in the area.

He extols the virtues of the neighbourhood. She has no idea when she will return, but when Harry Grant (Marcanthonee Jon Reis) is found with money, it is discovered that he has been charging neighbours $5 each to remain there.

His father reminds him that they are attempting to serve people, not exploit them.

Dr. Zimmerman has summoned Athena to the emergency room. She has a patient with a slit throat, no wallet, and no identification.

They didn’t think he’d make it, but he awoke long enough to write her name on a piece of paper. It’s Det Lou Ransone on the line (Sasha Roiz).

As she reveals his name, Athena is visibly shaken.

They learn the jail systems are down at the precinct. Athena is enraged that Lou has been in the hospital for 5 days and that Jeffrey Hudson (Noah Bean) has been in detention for the same amount of time.

She’s cursing herself for not doing a double-check. They discover that Jeffrey Hudson is missing from his cell and has never returned to central.

Lila Risco (Carly Nykanen), his lawyer, has not been heard from, which is understandable given that she was present when he was arrested.

When Howie finds out they’re losing fridge privileges, he asks if he can borrow Hen’s charger, but she says it’s department-issued and she can’t share it.

Howie tricks Buck into giving him a charger by threatening to never see his niece again if he doesn’t.

Meanwhile, Ana Flores (Gabrielle Walsh) arrives at the station with Christopher Diaz (Gavin McHugh), bringing food for his father, Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman).

Buck and Ravi (Anirudh Risharody) meet Christopher, but Ravi has a panic episode when asking if Ana is Eddie’s wife.

Capt Elaine Maynard (Claudia Christian) and Athena arrive with SWAT at Lila’s house, swiftly learning that the house is clear, but Lila is dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He didn’t steal her car, and Athena believes he didn’t have any “accomplices” other than Lila, whom he wanted to save but refused.

She is convinced that a deserted metropolis is the ideal hunting ground for him, and Athena is adamant about not warning any of his victims.

Bobby and Buck discuss the call they will take; all they know is that it is a zoo breakout. Buck tells them that the zoo has some real predators and what kind of gear they should bring on a call like this.

They see ostriches, eagles, elephants, and monkeys as they travel through the neighborhoods. They are aware that an animal attack occurred, but they are unsure of its nature.

They find a man who can’t tell them what kind of animal it was or what poison it sprayed at him.

They tend to him and send Eddie and Bobby inside to look for Ivan, the shop’s owner, who is still absent. Ivan is drenched in blood and losing a piece of his ear, but an alpaca stands between them.

Bobby takes a bag of popcorn, hoping that it will eat it because it is considered “greens.”

He tries to divert the alpaca with food, but as Ivan continues to make noise, Bobby urges him to take his wrists and drag him across the floor; however, Hen begins making loud noises, and he comes to a halt.

Bobby inquires about why he isn’t attacking, and Hen responds that it is calling a buddy; they both bolt out the door, prompting Buck to mock them for fleeing an alpaca.

A mother sits with her son, Luke, who is on a respiratory machine, explaining that the doctor believes he will be able to breathe on his own once he recovers from the virus.

All he wants to do is watch a Dodgers game. May Grant (Corinne Massiah) takes down her information, claiming it would be at least an hour or two, but she is told they don’t have that type of time, and she is intubating him now because he is just 12 years old.

May considers the board and comes up with a solution. She finds a nearby neighbour with solar panels and contacts her to explain the situation; the entire community utilises extension cords and Christmas lights to save Luke, the little kid.

May returns the phone and encourages the mother not to be alarmed when help arrives.

Buck interrupts Eddie’s snooze, interrogating him about his chest troubles. Eddie ultimately acknowledges it was a panic attack, which satisfies his curiosity.

He claims it wasn’t being shot, but Ana confirms it. She is a blessing, but he is not prepared for the ready-made family.

He’ll stick it out, and his child adores her, but Buck wonders if that’s enough. Buck believes Eddie should tell Ana the truth.

Howie contacts Maddie Kendall (Jennifer Love Hewitt) to check on her and tells her to call him as soon as she is able.

He observes his concern and ultimately tells her about her postpartum depression and how she feels like a failure as he hovers around.

He reminds him that Maddie is his partner, not his patient and that he should refrain from attempting to fix her. Meanwhile, Maddie is terrified when she falls asleep while bathing the baby at home.

Maddie delivers the baby to the hospital without sustaining any head injuries or fluid in her lungs. The physicians believe she will be alright;.

At the same time, Maddie is wobbly, the doctor advises her to get a full night’s sleep before filing the papers, and she will continue to feel this way until her children are adults, especially when they have an accident.

When Bobby phones Athena, she is sitting in her car with binoculars. She reveals that she is waiting outside a woman’s house for Jeffrey to appear without warning.

She believes she is living up to the rogue cop prophecy. She’s taken aback when he says he hopes she confronts the dangerous offender tonight and doesn’t shoot him in the leg.

Elaine joins her, leaving her credentials at home and explaining that this is a personal matter she is releasing. Lou is awake and asking for her, so she tells Athena to leave.

When Athena arrives at the hospital, she finds Lou awake and attentive, though in pain. She advises him to keep his strength in reserve.

She reveals that they discovered Lila dead and that she figured out who slit his throat and that she is sorry she wasn’t there.

They have no leads on Hudson, but they have units stationed at all of his victims’ homes. Lou informs her that they require units to be stationed at her residence because she is also a victim.

Michael is having a good time with her neighbours at her house, entirely unaware of the fact that Harry is playing Jenga with Jeffrey in their backyard. Bobby’s phone rings, and it’s Athena on the other end.

She asks him if he may come to the house because neither Michael nor Harry’s phones are ringing. He recognises what she’s saying and thinks she’s another of Jeffrey’s victims, so he dashes out the door, handing command to Howie.

Elaine tells Athena she can’t go into the house alone, but Athena reminds her that she doesn’t have that luxury.

She gets out of her car, draws her weapon, and calls out to Michael. As she wants to know where everyone is, Michael enters the rear entrance with his hands up.

Everyone departed when the generator went off, he said. When the lights come back on, Athena asks where Harry is, and he’s there by the game on the table, on his phone.

Jeffrey Hudson is stopped at a checkpoint but has a badge and is permitted to proceed, but Harry is in his trunk.
