My 600-lb Life Season 10 Episode 15 Recap - It's Finale - David Nelson's Story

David Nelson was thirty years old when he began his weight loss quest in the finale episode of My 600-lb Life.

His height and weight were unknown. His range of motion was restricted. Years ago, he damaged his back and was in excruciating pain.

He was on numerous drugs as a result of it. He had breathing problems as well, and he had to sleep with a breathing machine at night.

David, on the other hand, required a great deal of assistance. Robin was the one who assisted him. She was his favorite foster mother, and she cared for him as if he were her own child.

David didn’t have many relatives. When he was born, his birth mother was thirteen years old and frequently high on cocaine. David was placed in foster care right away. When he was six years old, he was adopted by a physically abusive couple and bounced around for a few years.

David had been abused. He was slapped across the face. He had been beaten. As a result, he acted out as a teenager, and when his parents left town for a few weeks due to the death of one of his grandmothers, David hosted a party with the other teens in the house.

The celebration lasted for ten days. Because their neighbor was an ex-cop, he recorded and photographed everything, and his “parents” learned about it.

David’s life hit another low point when they decided to kick everyone out. He felt as if no one cared about him, and he was upset that he had to return to foster care.

David retaliated. He continued to eat and ultimately arrived at Robin’s residence. When Robin took him in, she was told that he was a troublemaker.

She, on the other hand, was unconcerned. She claimed David as her son and has raised him as her own. David finally found the love of his life, but his eating habits remained the same.

He remembers what it was like to be impoverished and hungry as a child. Because of his past food insecurity, he now eats till he’s satisfied to make himself feel better.

Until he damaged his back, David was OK on his own. His mobility was slowed as a result of it. As a result, he gained weight more quickly and had to go on disability. He looked about going into a nursing home.

And he needed somewhere to stay while he waited, so he returned to Robin’s house.

Robin makes every effort to persuade him to go outside. She also attempts to get him to eat more healthily while remaining non-judgmental when he refuses.

David is no longer a small child. He’s an adult now. It is up to him to choose how he wants to live his life, and regrettably, he decided to commit suicide by eating.

Even after agreeing to see Dr. Now, he continued to order fast food. He didn’t just order a couple of items. He would order everything in abundance, and fried Jalapeo poppers were deemed nutritious.

There was also the matter of getting to Houston. David did the majority of the driving, and he was in excruciating discomfort by the end.

For a little moment, David was likewise stuck. His mother had gone inside the hotel, expecting him to be soon following her, but he took a long time since he got trapped behind the wheel. Later on, he was able to escape. It only took him a long time.

After a five-day drive, David and his mother arrived in Houston. It could have been a two-day excursion, but David was in so much pain that it evolved into a five-day vacation. David was weighed once he arrived at his appointment.

It was the first time in years that he had been weighed, and he discovered that he weighed 763 pounds.

That didn’t bother David in the least. Dr. Now, on the other hand, had a different opinion. The doctor questioned David about his eating habits and why he was eating so much, as well as his experiences in foster care.

In addition to being advised what to eat, Dr. Now thought he required therapy. David received a copy of Dr. Now’s book. It also includes some exercises that David could do despite his limited mobility.

To reduce weight, David only needs to follow the book’s instructions. Will he, however, do so? David got off to a great start, thanks in large part to his mother. She finished the book. She followed the food plans in the book and persuaded David to join her in the gym.

The main drawback is that Robin is required to work. She frequently leaves David alone for long periods of time, which is when he used to do his secret eating.

It was then that he would order pizza or whatever else suited his mood. David will have lost eighty pounds in two months if he does everything he’s supposed to. David was queried about his progress when it was announced that he had shed 67 pounds.

He eventually admitted that he had been snacking up until five weeks previously. He told the doctor about how his mental condition had been different in the past. He now understands what he was doing incorrectly and has pledged to correct it.

Dr. Now assigned him a new mission. He gave him two more months to properly commit to the regimen before requesting that he relocate to Houston.

David had travelled in from his home in California for his second appointment. It was a step up from driving down because he was in less discomfort at the end, and moving will also benefit him in the long run because it will be less of a problem.

It’s only that Robin wasn’t able to accompany him right away. She had no choice but to return to their former home.

Later, David had to go to Houston on his own, and he was expecting Robin to join him later, but the wait reawakened many of his previous fears.

David was apprehensive about moving down there on his own. He had no idea how to hold himself responsible.

At first, David maintained that he desired the procedure. He did go down there on his own after that and gained almost thirty pounds.

As a result, his surgery had to be postponed. Dr. Now didn’t hide his dissatisfaction either. He chastised David for acquiring weight. He told him that he needed to drop the weight he acquired as well as the original target and that he couldn’t gain any more.

Robin was able to spend some time with him because she was able to take time off from work.

It’s not enough as David only lost fourteen pounds and thus missed out on weight loss surgery for the second time. And it persuaded Dr. Now that the problem is considerably more serious than simply losing weight.

David was in need of counselling. Dr. Now had said as much at the start of this quest, but David had chosen to disregard him. He couldn’t ignore him any longer.

David finally made an appointment with a therapist and discussed his childhood with him. When his adopted family kicked him out, he explained what happened.

The adoptive parents had four adopted children and kicked out the three adolescents who were participated in the party.

David was adamant about it, but he didn’t show any emotion. He also talked about how he formed a foster care support group for foster kids, which is how he met Robin and was able to rapidly win her over. And went in with her after only three days of knowing her.

David is a natural leader. He has a lot of charisma. Dr. Paradise encouraged him to experience being alone because he believes his success is built on his relationships with others.

David was never left alone for an extended period of time. He had no choice but to do so immediately. Robin returned home, and David did everything he could to maintain his weight loss, and at his next checkup, he had lost 48 pounds.

He’d gotten himself back on track. He also was learning how to be self-sufficient. As a result, the treatment proved beneficial to him.

David merely needs to keep up his good work and he’ll be eligible for surgery once more.
