Raised by Wolves Season 2 ‘Happiness’ Recap

Campion copies a portion of the inscription that Vrille left behind on a piece of fabric before burying her in the Season 2 finale, titled ‘Happiness.’ Because he was raised by two androids, he has a very different perspective on them than anybody else in the Collective, including his five siblings.

Despite the fact that he knew Vrille wasn’t human, he fell in love with her. It’s becoming clear that if Campion does become a leader, as Mother hopes, or the saviour predicted by Mithraic prophecies, it will almost certainly be of the androids.

Vrille’s inscription is intended to contain the original Vrille’s thoughts, which Paul subsequently argues are Earth ramblings.

Because of her maternal conditioning, Mother was unable to kill the Serpent during their prior encounter. In this episode, she dons Grandmother’s veil and pursues the Serpent, who, although being weaponized, is more interested in pursuing Campion than killing humanity.

Mother grabs it by the tentacles and blasts it with the lethal necromancer sound explosion as they fly beyond the atmosphere.

After bringing her child to the Collective and discovering that she possesses non-human mutations, Tempest contends with previous trauma and inner conflict.

Hunter deduces that this is due to the baby’s consumption of the marine creature’s milk. After that, she has corrective surgery.

Meanwhile, the punisher helmet, one of the Tarantula’s Mithraic treasures, is stolen. Marcus is the prime suspect at first.

However, it is revealed near the end of the episode that Lucius (Matias Varela) was the one who took the mask. The entity’s Voice or Signal is now audible to him.

Is Marcus Dead in the ‘Raised by Wolves’ Season 2 Finale?

One thing is certain after what happens to Marcus at the end of the episode: he isn’t the same person he used to be. The Serpent’s brain is ripped out via its eye, killing it. The Sue tree re-emerges from its cadaver shortly after.

Sue thought the EMF around the settlement was preventing the Signal from reaching the Collective members. Paul deduces from her studies that the tree was the entity’s technique of avoiding the effects of the EMF.

This indicates that the Signal’s source is somewhere underground. When Marcus learns of this, he chooses to descend into the pit where Vrille massacred the Mithraics. However, someone shoots him as he prepares to do so.

Marcus later wakes up to discover Lucius crucifying him upside down on the Sue tree. The Signal has now been received by the latter. Before becoming Marcus’ chief detractor among the Mithraics, Lucius was one of his most loyal supporters.

The Signal, like usual, takes advantage of human emotions and converts them into a weapon. It persuades Lucius that he is the actual prophet and Marcus is the devil, and tells him to put Marcus in his current situation.

Marcus attempts to persuade Lucius that the thing is wicked, but he refuses to listen.  Lucius then covers Macus’ face with the punisher mask and waits for him to die while carving a Mithraic dagger from one of the Serpent’s teeth.

Marcus appears to be dead as he returns to the tree and removes the mask. When Lucius turns away to take a sip of the drink he’s brought, he senses something has happened. Marcus is floating, upside down and with his hands stretched, much as Lucius crucified him.

Saint Peter was crucified upside down in Rome during Emperor Nero’s reign, according to Christian tradition. The resemblance is almost certainly not coincidental.

Characters in ‘Raised by Wolves‘ have come to believe that the source of the Signal is a malignant creature. After Mother’s victory over the Serpent, a religion appears to be forming around her.

A little girl gives Nerva a medallion of Mother in exchange for a coat as the snow begins to fall on the hamlet. Her hands are stretched out in front of her, as if she were in flight. This is most likely an allusion to Jesus Christ, the Christian messiah.

In a science fiction scenario, it’s plausible that the storey of ‘Raised by Wolves’ is a reworking of how Christianity displaced old Roman religion as the dominant faith of the empire.

If Lucius’ conclusion that Marcus is dead when he checks him is correct, then this scene can be viewed as a miracle. Of course, as with everything in ‘Raised by Wolves,’ there will most likely be a scientific explanation in the future.

Marcus dying and becoming a vessel for the creature is a more scary prospect. After all, Lucius follows the mystery being’s exact directions. If such is the case, the Collective will be in grave danger very soon, especially with Mother stuck in the simulation.

Who Is Grandmother in Season Finale And What Does She Wants?

The Grandmother is a long-ago android who has lived on Kepler-22b since the dawn of human civilisation. According to the season 2 finale, she may be the reason for humanity’s devolution on the planet.

Since her reactivation, she has often said that preserving humanity’s eternal life is her top goal. She believes that humans will only be able to do this if their humanity and sentience are stripped away.

Grandmother appears to be devolving the six primary children into marine creatures with her hologames. Mother is encased by Grandmother’s veil as she realises this. Later, Grandmother puts Lamia into the simulation to keep her out of her way while she carries out her plans.

The grandmother is most likely to blame for the rapid drop in temperature. She wants people to stay in their units and play the hologames.
