How Did Samantha and Sharon Brady Pass Away?
In Union County, New Jersey, Sharon Phyllis Stiles was born in December 1975. Samantha and Brandi, her two daughters, were 13 and three years old at the time of the occurrence, respectively. Sharon was praised as a kind and understanding mother. Just weeks before the tragedy, the 40-year-old, who was split from her husband, Don Brady, moved into the Marietta apartment building with her children.
On September 12, 1986, one of Samantha’s friends couldn’t get in touch with her, so the Brady home was visited by the police. Brandi told her buddy that she could not wake up her mother and sister. Inside, Samantha was discovered lying face down in a pool of blood on the couch. Her back was stabbed numerous times. Sharon was found naked and stabbed in the master bedroom. The mother and daughter had been sexually assaulted, according to an autopsy. Brandi, thankfully, escaped unscathed.
Who Killed Samantha Brady and Sharon Brady and Why?
The entrance door was locked, the show claimed. Blood was found on the doorknob, and the police concluded that the assailant entered the house through the upstairs window and exited through the rear door. In addition, nothing appeared to have been stolen. Investigators took bloody garment samples from the bedroom and hair samples from the couch where the crime was committed. The authorities also discovered that a neighbour had heard a scream at about two in the morning, giving them a general idea of when the killings may have occurred.
Police ruled out her divorced husband. But police got a call from Mannon Phillips, who lives in the same area. According to the episode, Mannon thought his roommate, Ronald Lee Kyles, was to blame for the killings. Mannon reported that Ronald went to his bedroom and picked up a knife and that they only lived two doors down from the Bradys. He heard Ronald cleaning up in the bathroom a few hours later.
Ronald was reportedly seen doing laundry on the morning of the murders, according to witnesses. But he refused to comply when the police interrogated him. Although they provided samples for DNA testing, the authorities were constrained by the available technology. From that point on, the investigation stalled and eventually became unsolved. A cold case unit didn’t choose to revisit the Brady double homicides until 2013, though.
The police had Ronald’s blood samples and initial rape kits this time. The biological evidence was examined and found to match Ronald, linking him to the crime. He was detained in November 2015. In Pennsylvania at the time, Ronald was serving time for burglary and an aggravated assault.

What Happened to Ronald Lee Kyles and Where Is He Now?
Among other offenses, felony murder, burglary, rape, and severe violence were the initial charges against Ronald. But in an unexpected move, he admitted guilt to the two killings a week or so before the trial was scheduled to begin. Ronald received two life sentences that would start after he completed his previous sentence for the assault in October 2018. According to prison records, Ronald remains a prisoner at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette in La Belle, Pennsylvania.
