Shanna “Liz” Golyar: Who Is She?

Shanna “Liz” Golyar, of Omaha, Nebraska, began dating Dave Kroupa, a single father, in 2012 after meeting him on an online dating site. They couldn’t resist their attraction to one another, so by their fourth date, they were having sex. But Dave, in order to continue seeing other women, had stated that he was not seeking for anything serious. This type of relationship, on the other hand, didn’t sit well with Liz; thus, their involvement was on-and-off.

Liz returned to Dave’s apartment unannounced to pick up some belongings she had left behind around six months after their first meeting, only to run into him in the hallway with another lady, Cari Farver. It was a brief encounter, but it was enough to flip all three of their lives upside down.

After all, Dave’s new romantic companion, Cari, vanished barely two weeks later. Dave, Liz, and everyone else in Cari’s life began receiving bizarre and scary messages from her phone number after she vanished.

What Has Happened to Shanna “Liz” Golyar?

On December 22, 2016, more than four years after Cari Farver went missing, Shanna “Liz” Golyar was charged and arrested with first-degree murder in connection with her case. By that time, it had been revealed that Liz had sent the obsessive and abusive texts from Cari’s phone number, using an app that allowed her to schedule texts in advance.

By getting swamped with messages alongside Dave when they later spent time together, she averted suspicion. Liz claimed to be Cari for years, even going so far as to buy her furniture in order to make the story of her shifting states more credible. Authorities believe Liz stabbed Cari to death within 24 hours of her abduction and then burned her body to ensure no traces were ever discovered.

But there was proof of her crime because she had taken close-up images of what appeared to be a tied-up and decomposing human body on her tablet, which was eventually recovered thanks to Dave.

After all, one of the photos showed a foot with a Chinese sign tattooed on the bottom, similar to the one Cari had. Liz was found guilty of the murder charge against her in August of 2017, following a jury trial, and was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of release for Cari Farver murder. Liz was also found guilty of second-degree arson at the same sentencing for setting fire to her own home in August of 2013, which she tried to blame on Cari.

Not only had the fire destroyed her home, but it had also killed her pets, including two dogs, a cat, and a snake. As a result, she was sentenced to an extra 18 to 20 years in prison. Shanna “Liz” Golyar is now detained at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women, which accommodates women of all security classification levels and is located just west of York, Nebraska. Despite this, Liz continues to assert her innocence, stating she had no involvement in Cari’s case.
