Who is Spencer Matthews?
Spencer Matthews is a British television personality and entrepreneur born on August 6, 1988, in London, England. He is the brother of James Matthews, who married Pippa Middleton – sister to Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge.
Spencer first rose to fame as a cast member on the reality TV show “Made in Chelsea,” which chronicles the lives of wealthy young people living in Chelsea, London. He quickly earned himself a following for his charming personality and playboy attitude.
Spencer has since then made numerous television appearances, such as The Bachelor UK, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, and The Jump. Additionally, he was part of the fourth series of the reality dating show The Bachelor UK.
Spencer Matthews is related to the British Royal family through his older brother James Matthews. James married Pippa Middleton, younger sister of Princess Catherine of Wales on May 20, 2017, making Spencer uncle to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Additionally, David Matthews bought a 10,000-acre Glen Affric hunting lodge in Scotland back in 2007 and received the title of Laird of Glen Affric – something Spencer will inherit too!
Spencer said, “I never really accepted it as a kid. I was fortunate to be the age that I was when we lost him because I didn’t really believe it. We never, as a family, had a body to grieve so we had a memorial service instead of a funeral. I remember reading at that and, even then, part of me in a youthful way always thought that I would see him again. I didn’t quite process the loss ever, really.”
Where is Spencer Matthews Today?
In addition to his TV work, Spencer has a keen interest in health and fitness. He’s written the book “Clean Eating Alice: The Body Bible,” which offers advice on healthy eating and exercise; plus, he launched The Clean Coach online fitness program. Furthermore, Spencer serves as an ambassador for the Men’s Health Awareness charity Movember which raises awareness around men’s health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer.
Spencer has undertaken several entrepreneurial ventures, such as Clean Liquor (a company producing low-alcohol spirits) and Eden Rocks Diamonds (a luxury jewellery brand co-founded with his brother James Matthews). He also invested in several other businesses, such as a fitness studio and a health food company.
Spencer has often spoken candidly about his struggles with addiction in the past, using his platform to raise awareness around mental health and addiction issues. Since 2018, Spencer has been sober and speaks openly about how sobriety has transformed his life.
Spencer has been married to Irish model Vogue Williams since 2018, and they have two children together. He often shares glimpses of his family life with fans on social media while being known for his stylish appearances at events and on red carpets.
