Who Are Catherine and Taylor Jarvis?

Catherine and Chase Merritt had three children together after being married for almost 15 years. Chase was never violent, she added, and she could never envision him killing someone. Catherine testified during his trial about their terracotta business, which had grown by 2002.

Chase was a gambling addict, according to the investigators, who stole money from Joseph’s company, where he was a business partner. When it came to the family and one of Chase’s earlier businesses, Catherine testified that she handled the majority of the finances. “He was very artistic, very creative, he could construct anything, and he was a hard worker, and that’s what he spent most of his time doing,” she said of her former partner, who disliked bookkeeping.

Catherine backed up Chase’s account, stating he met Joseph in the afternoon on the day the family went missing. Catherine also said that Joseph called Chase on the same evening after 8 p.m., but that Chase did not answer. Taylor was 24 years old when she gave her testimony in 2019.

When her father and Joseph started working together when she was around 11 years old, the young woman said he was her father’s best friend. Taylor also recalled a fight between Catherine and Chase on February 4 when Chase failed to return Joseph’s phone.

Taylor testified that the incident occurred at their house in Rancho Cucamonga, California, where they were at the time. Chase called Joseph back, but he didn’t respond, according to her. “It developed into less of a disagreement and more of the next day, my father couldn’t reach Joseph, and in the days that followed, the dialogue shifted to my mother saying, ‘Now you can’t reach Joseph.'” “What if that was an emergency call or a call for assistance?” it grew as time went on.”

What Has Happened to Catherine and Taylor Jarvis and Where Are They Now?

Taylor also testified that her father was an accomplished poker player who regularly competed in tournaments to supplement his income. In a 2014 interview, she said that Chase was financially irresponsible. Despite this, Catherine and Taylor claimed that Chase was at home on February 4, 2010.

Taylor also stated that she had no incentive to lie for him. However, a jury found him guilty of the four murders, and he was sentenced to death. “We’re ready to keep fighting,” Taylor said after the sentencing, referring to the mother and daughter’s belief in Chase’s innocence. “We’re going to stick by his side.” She wanted to be a forensic scientist at first, but after seeing what happened to her father, she changed her mind and decided to pursue a career in law.

Taylor presently resides in Los Angeles, California, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree in May 2022. Her mother, on the other hand, is no longer with Chase. Catherine now resides in California with her husband Larry Bower.
