In Deal or No Deal Island Season 2, Episode 5, tensions are high as the player count drops to just ten. There are tests of alliances and lies that come to light, and Dr. Will Kirby continues to rise as the most divisive character in the game. Dr. Will has dominated the game even though almost everyone doesn’t like him because of his rude behavior and crazy antics. This episode is all about a clever change to the game that makes players think about their strategy and loyalty.
Episode 5 had a lot of important events, from the main challenge to the shocking elimination.
THE CHALLENGE: TESTING TRUST AND STRATEGY
This week, the banker changes things up again. There are no longer any physical challenges. Instead, players must compete in a social game with a cruel twist. A host named Joe Manganiello tells the players that they will sit with a partner on opposite sides of a tower that has briefcases on each level. And here’s the catch: each player can only see their partner’s case value.
At any time, each player can pull a rope, which locks in the briefcase value for both of them and knocks their partner to the ground. The player who locks in the highest value wins safety from elimination, but players have to make tough decisions about whether to go for the highest value or their own safety.
• La Shell and Lete play a good game. La Shell lets Lete win because her most important case is worth $500,000 more, and she needs to stay safe.
• Seychelle and C.K. also work together to get the best deal for both of them without lying.
• David and M.G. both use the same plan to stay out of trouble.
Things get very interesting when Parvati and Phillip fight, though. It has never been easy for them to work together, and this challenge shows how little trust they have in each other.
Phillip is not telling the truth when he says that his case is worth $1.6 million when it really is worth $1.5 million. Parvati then tells him the truth and says her case is also worth $1.5 million when it’s really worth $1.8 million. Phillip is furious when he finds out she lied to him, even though he was the one who lied. Their relationship starts to fall apart in public.
DR. WILL VS. DICKSON: THE DUEL WE WERE WAITING FOR
Dr. Will and Dickson are the last ones to compete because alliances are being put to the test. It’s no secret that these two hate each other; they’ve been at odds for weeks. In the last episode, Dickson lied to Will by sending Storm home even though he said he wouldn’t.
Dr. Will wants to take charge of the game, so he throws the challenge on purpose so that he can face the banker himself. Everyone doesn’t understand why he does crazy things like insisting on pulling his rope first to “look down” on Dickson. Still, his plan works, and he loses the challenge. This is his big chance to face the banker.
THE BANKER DUEL: DR. WILL’S BIG WIN
When Dr. Will gets the chance to play against the banker, he walks into the arena with confidence, ready to take charge of the game. Instead of picking briefcases based on personal preference, he is methodical and picks them in numerical order, which the other players find annoying for reasons that aren’t clear.
Will pulls a fake-out in the middle of the duel by pretending to accept the banker’s offer, only to turn it down seconds later. This trick doesn’t reveal anything new because everyone already doesn’t like him, but it makes him look even worse as the game’s bad guy.
Even with all the trouble, Dr. Will wins the duel and adds $168,000 to the prize pool. Many of the other players were upset that his win meant he would be safe for another week.
THE ELIMINATION: M.G. GOES HOME
With his win, Dr. Will gets to choose who goes home. He targets The Family, the main alliance that has been controlling the game, in a well-thought-out move. M.G. is the only member of the family who can be eliminated this week, which is a shame.
The Family has been dealt a big blow by Maria-Grace Cook, M.G.’s elimination. The group led by Parvati and David, who won Survivor, had been strong, but now there are signs of weakness. Phillip’s growing mistrust of Parvati in the challenge and his own betrayal of her show that the alliance is in for trouble.
WHAT’S NEXT?
The game has changed since Dr. Will won. Most of the other players don’t like him, but his smart moves have given him a huge advantage. On the other hand, Lete keeps showing signs of being a strong candidate. Fans love her because she can handle challenges well, plays honestly, and thinks strategically.
Seychelle also showed her smart side this week when she worked with Dr. Will, C.K., and Phillip to defeat The Family. She might be able to get far if she can keep these friendships together.
Phillip needs to be careful, even though he is good at challenging people. Because of his fight with Parvati, he might become a target in future tasks.
One thing is becoming clear as the game goes on: The Family’s rule is in danger, and Dr. Will is not going away without a fight.
Watch out for the next episode. The stakes will get higher and alliances will be put to the test again.
