Who was Lisa Putman and How Did She Die?

Lisa Putman, a 28-year-old Child Protective Services worker in Macomb County, Michigan, was killed. She was sent to Jacqueline and Josephine Verellen’s house. Because they were horders, their home was filthy, and Josephine’s children were living in an unsafe environment.

Lisa had a good relationship with Josephine. Lisa kept detailed notes about how miserable she was and how she was emotionally linked to stuff she couldn’t get rid of due to her upbringing. She assured Jacqueline and Josephine that if they cleaned the house, she would take the kids to their parents’ homes and not take them away permanently.

It seemed to work for a while, and they even got help cleaning their house. They never cleaned anything up, and by the time Lisa returned to check on the Verellen sisters, the house had devolved into shambles, and they had been informed that their children would be taken away permanently.

A missing person complaint was filed after Lisa’s fiancé, and mother was unable to contact her on May 20, 1998, at about 5:30 a.m. The police contacted all of Lisa’s clients and discovered that her last appointment was at the Verellan sisters’ home at 2 p.m. the day before. The cops got directly to work on their inquiry.

When the cops arrived at their house, they were astounded by what they discovered. Garbage was piled up on every surface within the house. They showed footage of the house in the episode, and it was horrible. There was also animal faeces inside the house, and the cops discovered six cats and one dog. They also discovered that the plumbing was broken, so they had to use buckets to go to the bathroom.

Lisa’s automobile was also discovered abandoned one mile from their home. They were summoned by the cops for questioning. Josephine was fetched up from her hotel employment, and Jacqueline was brought in by her father.

Who Killed Lisa Putman and Why?

Josephine was the first to be interviewed, and she sobbed. They killed Lisa, she claimed, when they realised they wouldn’t be able to get her children (ages 7 and 8).

She explained what had transpired, claiming that Jacquline had beaten Lisa in the head with a hammer when she arrived for their scheduled appointment. Lisa didn’t die straight away, according to her, and she had to detain her while her sister placed her body in garbage bags. Lisa’s face was taped, and her body was placed in the bathtub.

They went shopping after picking up their children from school. They claimed Lisa was dead when they returned, and they went to dispose of her body.

After arresting Josephine, they hauled in Jacqueline and challenged her. She replied that she only hit Lisa once when they asked how many times she thought she hit her. This contradicted her sister’s claim that she had been struck six times. Lisa has been shot a total of 22 times before succumbing to suffocation.

Jacqueline and Josephine also told the cops where Lisa’s body could be found. Lisa’s body was discovered in a wooded area two days after the Verellen sisters murdered her.

What Has Happened to Jacqueline and Josephine Verellen?

Initially charged with first-degree murder, Jacqueline and Josephine Verellen pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and kidnapping in 1998. As a result, Jacqueline received a 50-year sentence with a minimum of 25 years in jail, while Josephine received a 75-year sentence with a minimum of 50 years in prison.

Josephine is now detained at the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Pittsfield Charter Township, Michigan, and is scheduled to be released in 2039. Jacqueline, on the other hand, was granted parole in April of 2022, and based on her parolee status, we may reasonably infer she is still residing in Michigan.

My Final Thoughts in Lisa Putman Murder

This does not excuse what they did, but if what they said was accurate, I believe they were both mentally sick as a result of their childhood experiences. I believe they were sorry in some way, but you’ll have to see the program to see for yourself.

I’m glad they’re in jail, but I believe they need professional assistance. I’m glad Lisa’s family got justice; I was almost in tears listening to Lisa’s mother talk about her and cry. She also stated that Lisa never received her wedding and that they celebrated her wedding at her death. Oh, my heart.
