NCIS Season 22 Episode 10 Recap

The episode opens with Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) picking up pastries from his favorite bakery, Kostakis Bakery, for the team. Parker doesn’t pay much attention to how nervous the new worker, Virgil (Jordyn Owens), seems until the team finds a scary message on the bottom of the pastry box: “Help! “Dial 911.” Parker and his team rush back to the bakery out of fear and find Virgil’s body in a vat of batter. There are also signs of someone trying to rob the bakery.
Eleni Kostakis (guest star Melina Kanakaredes), who owns the bakery, is a skilled baker and Parker’s close friend. When Eleni gets to the crime scene and finds out what happened, she is heartbroken. She is also shocked to find out that Parker works for the government because he had not told her that. Eleni says that Virgil was a former prisoner she gave a second chance, and she thinks he died trying to keep thieves out of the bakery.
As the team looks into it, they find more questions than answers. The cash register is empty, but Virgil’s wallet is still there. He wasn’t killed by a gunshot, even though a bullet is stuck in the wall. Even more troublesome, a search of the bakery’s kitchen shows that the sugar supply had been tampered with with $100,000 worth of cocaine. People on Parker’s team think that the bakery may have been used for drug smuggling without anyone knowing.
When it comes out that Eleni recently got a $25,000 deposit from a sketchy offshore account, she becomes a prime suspect. Leslie Walker, her shady lawyer, played by Ken Garito, tries to get the investigation off track, but Parker’s team keeps going. Another link is to a man named Charles Barbieri, who is known to traffic drugs. Eleni says she’s not guilty, but Parker starts to wonder how well he knows her.
Tensions rise as the investigation goes on. Parker finds a drawing by a child in the bakery that is marked “Manny.” Eleni takes it from him and tells him to be careful with it. When Barbieri and a member of a rival gang are found dead in an alley, things get worse because the bodies have been linked to the bakery.
Eleni’s sudden disappearance sets off alarms, and Parker has to face how he feels about her while leading the team to find the truth. The team is in a race against time to solve the case before it gets too complicated with personal ties, drug trafficking, and betrayal.
