Outlander Season 6 Episode 2 ‘Allegiance’ Recap and Ending Explained

Jamie meets the chiefs of the Cherokee community as the new Indian agent in the second episode of Starz’s historical series ‘Outlander‘ season 6.

Jamie’s morality is severely tested when Cherokee officials make a huge demand, prompting him to discuss the problem with the love of his life.

The Christies make their home at Fraser’s Ridge, particularly Malva, who becomes Claire’s new helper. Jamie makes a crucial decision towards the end of the episode.

Outlander Season 6 Episode 2 ‘Allegiance’ Recap

The second episode of Season 6 of ‘Outlander,’ titled ‘Allegiance,’ begins with Jamie’s meeting with Cherokee leaders as the British Crown’s Indian agent.

The leaders demand that the Crown provide them with more armaments, particularly rifles. Jamie finally agrees to examine their request after much deliberation and departs without making a firm decision.

Claire returns to Fraser’s Ridge to tend to Marsali, who is preparing for the birth of her and Fergus’ child. Marsali informs her that Fergus is constantly away from her and that their marriage is in jeopardy.

Claire also observes a bruise on Marsali’s hand and believes it was caused by Fergus.

Claire also sees Thomas Christie, who requires an operation on his right palm that is now unavailable. When Jamie returns from the Cherokees, he tells Claire about his situation with their demand, but she doesn’t help him make a decision.

Jamie refuses to tell Major MacDonald about the Cherokees’ demand when he pays him a visit. Instead, Jamie explains the confusion about the Cherokees’ devotion when Ian asks him the same question.

Meanwhile, Roger takes over as interim pastor of Christie’s church and conducts a funeral service.

Marsali is about to give birth. Claire is concerned about her health, which is deteriorating. She urges Jamie to locate Fergus so that he can be with Marsali at that time.

Roger eventually locates Fergus, who makes Marsali pleased by his presence. Marsali gives birth to a newborn boy after much effort, only for Fergus to discover that his son is a dwarf.

Despite this, Marsali expresses her affection for the child. Claire’s medicinal treatments lead to allegations of witchcraft, but Jamie steps in to save her from Thomas Christie’s situation.

Christie returns home enraged, venting his hatred on Malva for spending time with Claire.

Does Jamie Accept the Cherokees’ Demand for Guns in Outlander Season 6 Episode 2?

Jamie considers the dangers of agreeing to the Cherokee leader’s demand for guns from the British Crown. He begins to wonder if equipping them may backfire if they decide to use the guns against him and Fraser’s Ridge.

When he gets home, he tells Claire about his predicament. Giving them firearms, he adds, will lead them to the side of the Loyalists, forcing them to fight for the Crown against him when the conflict breaks out.

Refusing to provide the Cherokees guns, on the other hand, will cause them to join the Rebels, only to be forced to fight alongside him due to a lack of resources to deal with the war’s wrath.

Jamie ultimately rejects the demand and does not even inform the Major of his decision. Jamie, on the other hand, is torn. He understands that the town will be doomed either way, with or without the weaponry the Crown can provide.

At that point, he encounters Ian’s logic, which causes him to reconsider his decision. Ian begs Jamie to give the Cherokees a fighting chance after learning from Brianna that their lives will be badly impacted even after the Revolutionary War and the Rebels’ victory.

Jamie is greatly influenced by Ian’s words as he mulls over the situation. He recognises that the Cherokees, like himself, deserve to be defended and fought for.

Jamie recognises the necessity of not ignoring the community’s concerns when he sees the depth of Ian’s kinship and commitment to the Cherokees. He writes Governor Milton a letter recommending that the Cherokees be given rifles and other weaponry.

With the realisation that the Cherokees are Ian’s relatives, his issue about the affair is resolved. Jamie resolves to fight for Ian’s interests as Ian battles for his family’s.

Jamie, more than anyone, understands that he may come to regret accepting the Cherokees’ demand and endorsing it to Governor Milton.

He can’t ignore Ian’s commitment to the Cherokees, though, because he’s a family man. As a result, he does everything in his power to ensure that the Cherokees have the weapons they need to protect their territories and existence.
