Lisa Reeves: Who is She?

Sylvia Elise Mitchell Reeves and the late Rodger Wayne Reeves were the parents of Lisa Reeves. Her husband Gordon Randall Gwathney, sometimes known as Randy, was praised by their neighbors as a “regular pair.” However, according to sources, Sylvia had already filed for divorce; thus, their marriage did not last long. To live with her mother and maternal grandparents, James Oliver Mitchell Jr. and Evelyn Elise Wilson Mitchell, Lisa had relocated away from Randy and into her family’s house five miles south of Palestine in Lee County, Arkansas.

The two got into a fight about credit card and money issues on the evening of February 13, 2007, when Randy came over to see his divorced wife in Lee County. Randy punched Lisa during the heated debate, and Sylvia intervened to mediate. She threatened to call the police if Randy didn’t leave her daughter alone right away. As Lisa slipped from Randy’s hold to fetch her cell and ask for assistance, an unfazed Randy moved to her mother-in-law and began pounding her.

Lisa locked herself in her grandparents’ room when she heard gunfire and went out the window to her brother Travis Reeves’ home next door. Travis was shot several times when he went over to see what was going on. Around 1:45 a.m., Lisa called the St. Francis County Sheriff’s office in a panic, and deputies were immediately sent to the scene. Randy fired at Deputy Tracy Jackson, the first law enforcement official to arrive at the Reeves’ residence, and then fled the scene before additional law enforcement arrived.

When police arrived at the Reeves home, they discovered Travis and Tracy both suffering from severe but not deadly wounds. Travis had been wounded five times, while Tracy received wounds from bullets that had entered his patrol car’s windshield. They were sent to a medical facility in Memphis, Tennessee, for urgent care. But Sylvia, James, and Evelyn weren’t as fortunate as it turned out. Both Sylvia and her grandparents had died from gunshot wounds, and Sylvia had been shot in an execution-style manner.

Where is Lisa Reeves Now?

Within a few hours of the shooting, Randy was apprehended while allegedly attempting to flee to the Mexican border, according to the usage of his ATM card. Around 7:30 p.m. on February 14, 2007, he was apprehended in his pickup truck with two firearms and ammo in Laredo, Texas. A few days later, he was returned to Arkansas and found guilty of three counts of capital murder and one count of each of attempted capital murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Lisa testified during Randy’s trial; in the November 2009 trial, Randy was found guilty and given a life sentence plus 40 years. The horrors of that February 2007 night, when Lisa nearly lost her entire family at the hands of her estranged husband, are likely to stay with Lisa forever. We think that she is trying to maintain her strength, though. Since Lisa is presumably currently maintaining a quiet life, it makes sense that she would want to keep the public informed of her location.
