‘One of Us Is Lying,’ by Peacock, is a suspenseful murder mystery that opens with the death of a student while in detention.
His friends are subsequently thrown into a tumultuous probe that threatens to expose their innermost secrets.
The storey reveals even more characters who could have committed the crime as they struggle to establish their innocence while keeping their respective secrets hidden, and the list of suspects continues to grow.
The show has received praise for its surprising tale that leaves viewers guessing who the killer is, based on Karen M. McManus’s 2017 young adult novel of the same name.
Even while the season one finale answers the key questions, there are still some unanswered questions.

Release Date for Season 2 of One of Us Is Lying
Season 1 of ‘One of Us Is Lying’ premiered on Peacock on October 7, 2021.
The first three episodes of the show were released concurrently, followed by episodes 4, 5, and 6 on October 14, the following Thursday.
Season 1’s final two episodes were released on October 21, bringing the total number of episodes to eight, each lasting between 40 and 50 minutes.
There has been no formal announcement about whether or not Season 2 will be greenlit.
Fans need not despair just yet, as there appears to be a solid potential for a second season.
For one thing, Season 1 ends on a cliffhanger, implying that the mystery isn’t totally solved and that the primary characters may still be in danger.
The fact that the major enemy isn’t shown to be dead or alive adds to the sense that there’s more to the storey.
There are also characters like Janae, Maeve, and TJ who appear to have deep backstories that have yet to be revealed.
They may easily take on the roles of antagonists in the second season, but more on that narrative later.
The fact that there is lots of source material is maybe the most important reason that season 2 seems possible (despite the fact that it has yet to be announced).
McManus has written sequels to her initial work, ‘One of Us Is Lying.’
As a result, a follow-up season based on the season 1 sourcebook’s sequel, ‘One of Us Is Next,’ could very well be in the works.
Another element to consider is viewership numbers; if the show can attract enough viewers, it will have a much better chance of being renewed for a second season.
Season 2 of ‘One of Us Is Lying’ would premiere sometime in 2022, if it is greenlit soon.

The Plot of One of Us Is Lying Season 2: What Could It Be About?
Season 1 ends with the discovery that Simon, on Jake’s bet, consumed a capsule containing the lethal peanut oil.
Despite the fact that the former expected to be saved, the latter changed his mind and decided to let Simon die in order to frame his unfaithful girlfriend, Addy.
Jake is alleged to have ran away when incriminating evidence is discovered on a gaming system in his room.
Bronwyn, Nate, Addy, and Cooper, the four key suspects, know the truth: Jake died accidentally from a bullet wound during a struggle between him, Cooper, and Janae.
We may expect the Bayview Four to be tormented by Jake’s death in a prospective season 2, as it appears that someone is attempting to blackmail them with it.
This will unleash a bag of worms since the characters will feel pressed and may begin to divulge one other’s secrets once more.
With Jake presumably out of the picture, a new opponent could emerge, which could be Janae, Maeve, or TJ, who were all involved in the season 1 mystery.
