Who is Syabira Yusoff and Where is She Now?
Syabira Yusoff, a Malaysian native, developed a taste for regional food as a child. Syabira began working as an agronomist with Green World Genetics in September 2012, after completing her Agricultural Science bachelor’s degree in Malaysia. The reality TV personality worked as a research assistant at Universiti Putra Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from April 2013 to August 2013.
However, she was inspired to pursue a Ph.D. in Genetics by her interest in the inner workings of plants. Fortunately, Syabira managed to land a job in the University of Leicester’s Plant Science Department in 2013. She studied between 2014 and 2017, and with her perseverance, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Genetics and Genome Biology.
Syabira worked as a part-time Research Assistant/Trainee Bioinformatician at the University of Leicester from April 2015 until December 2017. After earning her doctorate, she started working as a postdoctoral researcher in cardiac surgery research at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. At the same time, she remained connected to the University of Leicester, until she left the position in July 2019. Syabira has been employed by King’s College London’s Cardiovascular department as a Postdoctoral Researcher since August 2019.
The epigenetic regulation of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) calcification and ageing is the current area of study for Syabira. She is also researching the link between cardiovascular illnesses and aging. The baker enjoys her job and gets along well with her coworkers. The Malaysian native seems to be up for the challenge as her work appears to be an equal balance of intensive theoretical research and valuable lab time.
In 2017, Syabira’s baking journey began when she decided to bake a dish out of homesickness. She cherishes the experience of enjoying red velvet cake with her friends in Malaysia, which inspired her to continue baking and creating more delectable dishes. The reality television star uses baking as a sort of therapy to relax after a long day or just to have fun.
While watching the program with her partner, Bradley, she thought of entering “The Great British Baking Show.” She discovered she could bake like the chefs on the show after watching the contestants prepare brownies. To maintain her work-life balance, she began preparing for the competition by creating dishes at five in the morning. Everyone who knew the researcher was confident in her abilities and did not seem particularly startled when she was chosen for the show.
As of this writing, Syabira resides in Bromley, England, and she and her partner, Bradley, are happily together. Syabira likes to play video games when she’s not working or baking. She thinks that a World War II simulation game she played online helped her develop her leadership abilities in the real world.
By incorporating her favorite childhood flavors into western dishes, Syabira enjoys showcasing her Malaysian heritage via her cuisine. We pray for the best for Syabira and her loved ones and that they have a promising future ahead of them.
