Timothy White dies at 35; survivor of Notorious kidnapping in 1980.
Timothy James White was an American youngster who was kidnapped and imprisoned for several weeks by paedophile Kenneth Parnell in 1980 before escaping with Steven Stayner. Stayner and White escaped while Parnell was at work on March 1, 1980. Parnell and his family resided in the isolated outback and had to trek a long way before they were picked up by a passing truck driver and taken to Ukiah. He married Dena, and they have two children together: Hannah and Lukas. White died of a pulmonary embolism on April 1, 2010.
After Timothy White vanished unexpectedly in February 1980, his family embarked on a desperate hunt for him. When he was a child, the authorities searched the entire country for him. Timothy was brought home safely thanks to the brave efforts of another adolescent.
Kenneth Parnell, a convicted child molester, kidnapped Steven Stayner and Timothy seven years apart, according to Hulu’s ‘Captive Audience.’ But it was Steven, along with Timothy, who was able to flee. So, if you’re interested in learning more about Timothy’s life and what has happened since then, you’ve come to the right place.
Timothy White: Who Was He?
Timothy was heading home in Ukiah, California, on February 14, 1980, when the incident occurred. Usually, he walked with a classmate for the first portion of the journey before heading out on his own for the last leg. Randall Sean Poorman, then 14 years old, approached Timothy at that time, claiming to have car issues and asking Timothy to hold a tyre valve stem. The 5-year-old, on the other hand, did not fall for it and began running.
Kenneth was in the driver’s seat of the car at the time. Kenneth had approached Randall the night before with a plot to kidnap another boy to “grow his family,” according to Randall’s later testimony. He offered the adolescent money, beer, and cannabis in exchange. Kenneth was Kenneth’s father, and Randall was Steven’s friend. Kenneth was supposed to point out the boy he wanted, and Randall was supposed to take him up.
Kenneth also bought girls’ apparel, some children’s necessities, sleeping medications, and orange juice, according to Randall. Randall caught up to Timothy and tossed him in the backseat as he started running away that day. Kenneth had requested him to give Timothy the sleeping tablets and orange juice, he alleged. The child was then transported to a hut where Steve, who had been abducted by Kenneth seven years before, was also there.
Kenneth said something to Timothy that was similar to what he said to Steven earlier. “Kenneth Parnell told me I was given to him by my parents; that they couldn’t afford me and didn’t want me anymore,” Timothy subsequently testified. He was going to be my new father.”
Steven looked after Timothy for the following three days, and the two spent time together playing. Steven, on the other hand, had made the decision to depart with the child. “I couldn’t see Timmy suffer,” he subsequently claimed. It was a life-or-death situation for me, and I’d also be returning home to accomplish something good.”
Finally, two weeks after Timothy’s kidnapping, the two managed to flee the lodge in March 1980. While Kenneth was at work, they were on their third attempt. They were picked up and driven to Ukiah by a man, but they couldn’t find Timothy’s residence. Instead, the two went to a police station. Timothy was reunited with his family and went on to testify in two of Kenneth’s trials, first as a kid and again as an adult.
What Caused Timothy White’s Death?
“He didn’t want what happened to him to happen to me,” Timothy stated of Steven. Timothy served as a pallbearer during Steven’s burial in 1989. In addition, the Stayners stayed in touch with him over the years. Following the incident, Timothy went on to establish a life for himself.
Dena was his wife, and they had two children together. Timothy began his career as a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in Newhall, California, in 2005. He died of a pulmonary embolism on April 1, 2010, according to reports. Timothy was 35 years old at the time.
