They do so under the watchful eye of renowned bariatric surgeon Younan Nowzaradan, aka Dr. Now, because it encompasses emotional, physical, and medical components.

While some participants, like season 10’s James Bedard, crash and burn as a result of the constant hard work and pressure, others, like season 10’s James Bedard, thrive.

My 600-lb Life Journey by James Bedard

At the age of 38, James Bedard realised that his food addiction had progressed to the point that it could kill him at any time, but he lacked the willpower to stop eating.

He tried to walk away several times, but he always returned minutes later, feeling compelled to complete everything as if it were the goal.

James also admitted that, despite being aware of the dangers his huge frame posed to his ability to work, he couldn’t stop himself from thinking about food every second of every day.

It limited his movement and opportunities, but he pushed himself to the extent to maintain his hygiene.

James has always been a big guy, but it seems to have started with the large portions of Caribbean food he ate as a kid.

His father, according to his recollection, didn’t spend much time with him, and after his mother came home from work in the evenings, he always washed up the plate she had served him.

That was important family time for him, but it also led to him gaining 100 pounds at the age of six.

James’ addiction grew from there, and he even went so far as to befriend the lunch ladies at his school so that they would offer him snacks anytime he wanted, thereby allowing him to eat all day.

James weighed 300 pounds when he was eight years old but gained another 200 pounds during the next ten years.

Things took a turn for the worse when he got a job as a security guard right out of high school, as the money allowed him to order whatever he wanted whenever he wanted.

James relocated to Florida at the age of 23 to pursue a career in music, where he met a girlfriend who placed them both on a diet to live healthier and safer lives.

His weight stabilised for a while, but he couldn’t stay to it, so he went to New York, feeling like a burden, and the relationship became long-distance.

James Bedard chose to join Dr. Now’s programme after more than a year in New York, relying on his brother, cousins, and friends to assist him out.

He quickly realised that he weighed 625 pounds. His fear of being seen in public, his ordering out since he didn’t enjoy his cooking, and his back, knee, and ankle discomfort limited his mobility were all key factors in this number.

His eating habits were likewise a vicious cycle, providing him with comfort while also contributing to his sadness.

Where Is James Bedard Now?

James Bedard lost his father during the first three months of his weight-loss journey, but despite the grief and personal challenges that slowed his progress, he eventually got back on track.

James ate properly and exercised with the help of his support system, and by doing his treatment homework, he gradually learned how to be out in public and not need food as a coping strategy.

James shed an incredible 119 pounds in a year and was authorised for assist surgery; all he has to do now is relocate to Houston, Texas.

James, who weighs 506 pounds, appears to be determined to achieve his objective, but he appears to be wrapping up loose ends in New York at the time.
