What Happened to Kanan's Mom

What Happened to Kanan’s Mom? Will Kanan’s Mother Raq Die on the “Power Book III: Raising Kanan”? – The third Power Universe book, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, is unlike anything else we’ve seen before in the series. The story, which is set in 1991, follows 15-year-old Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis) as he starts out in the drug business, following in the footsteps of his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller).

Raising Kanan is as much about Raq as it is about the title character. Will she endure on the show, though? According to her fans, she may not be around for the long run.

Who is Raq Thomas

Who is Raq Thomas? What Happened to Her?

“Raq” Raquel The deuteragonist of the Starz original crime drama Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Thomas is a character mentioned in Power. One of the primary protagonists in seasons 1-2 is Raq. She was mentioned in Season 2 of Power as well.

Kanan’s mother is Raq. Although she may appear to him to be affectionate, she is a cold, hard, and violent lady who calls men names in the streets. Raq is brutal, determined, and vicious, but she still has a soft side. Kanan is the only one she can truly love since he means the world to her.

Although she cares for him, there are numerous times when one questions whether she truly loves him or whether she only sees him as an extension of herself. Raq, the middle child of three, also bears the enormous responsibility of financially supporting her two brothers, Lou-Lou and Marvin.

Even though Power Book III: Raising Kanan is primarily Kanan Stark’s coming-of-age story, Raquel “Raq” Thomas, a drug lord who doesn’t take crap from anyone, is heavily featured in the book. Miller claims that after reading the script, she fell in love with the role.

Miller told the New York Daily News, “You know, what I love about this character is that she’s a bit of my mom. She’s a bit of a lot of people’s moms… It’s a story about a single Black female making the s–t work. And she just happens to be in the crime business. It’s a mother-son tale. It’s about that unbreakable bond that love between these two people. And I think that’s the story that we’re telling. Yes, it’s a crime drama, but it is a family drama as well.”

Will Raq Thomas Die

In “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” Will Raq Thomas Die?

The relationship between Raq and Kanan is a significant theme in Raising Kanan. The Tony Award winner explained to The New York Daily News that “it’s a mother-son tale.” “It has to do with the unbreakable connection and love between these two. And I believe that is the narrative we are using. It is a crime drama, yes, but it is also a family drama.

A large part of Kanan’s motives in Power Book III: Raising Kanan pilot is to support his mother and make sure that everything will be alright if something happens to her. Raq doesn’t appear to care how she dies as long as her son is taken care of. “Your life is my life, if you fly, I fly,” she tells him.

Another series that is loosely based on 50 Cent’s life is Power Book III: Raising Kanan. As many of his followers are aware, his drug lord mother, Sabrina, perished in a fire when he was eight years old. We wonder to what extent Raq’s trip will be similar.

Raq Thomas, played by Patina Miller in “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” is modelled after 50 Cent’s mother. Raising Kanan’s story is partially inspired by 50 Cent’s childhood in Queens, New York. In actuality, the rapper’s late mother was the inspiration for a sizable portion of what we saw in the Raq pilot.

According to 50 Cent, who spoke to Sky News, “I look at my journey, some of the decisions that my mom made have guided mine, and it’s because people from her life had what was a representation of financial freedom, they had those nice things in front of me. They got everything that you would want, so it kind of led me down the same path of the hustling and going to do different things, and, you know, I just hit the roof of that and wanted to do more, so I got involved in music and entertainment where we do things that exceed that level of success, completely.”
