Where is Ex-Abercrombie & Fitch CEO ‘Mike Jeffries’ Today? Let’s find him. Michael Stanton Jeffries is an American businessman who was born on July 15, 1944. He was the CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch until 2014, and was primarily responsible for reestablishing the clothing firm and constructing its present brand image. Mike Jeffries used youth, sex, and casual dominance to turn a dormant corporation into a multibillion-dollar brand. For a 61-year-old in flip-flops, it’s not terrible.
Abercrombie & Fitch was founded in 1892, but it struggled in the 1980s until Mike Jeffries took over as CEO. He was credited with the garment company’s remarkable growth in the years that followed. Abercrombie and Fitch, on the other hand, prided itself on exclusivity, which was one of the company’s numerous flaws. Mike left his position at the company in 2014 after a series of controversies.
‘White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch,’ a Netflix documentary, examines the once-iconic brand’s influence on fashion and Mike’s contentious tenure as CEO. So, how about we learn a little more about him?

Who is Mike Jeffries and What Happened to Him?
Mike was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He founded a clothing brand focused on business apparel for women after graduating with a master’s degree in business administration. Mike gained success afterwards when he was hired as the CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch in 1992, despite the fact that it didn’t work out. The corporation quickly shifted its target demographic to teenagers and young adults while emphasising exclusivity. Abercrombie & Fitch was famed for its provocative advertising efforts at the time.
While the company’s popularity soared, it was also dogged by numerous issues. It was chastised in 2002 for what was printed on middle-school girls’ thongs. “Eye Candy” and “Wink Wink” were considered sexual. “That was a lot of b—-t,” Mike replied in response. People accused us of being cynical and sexualizing young females. But, guess what? Those are still cute underpants for tiny girls, in my opinion. And I believe that anyone who jumps on the thongs for little girls bandwagon is insane.”
Later, demonstrations erupted over Abercrombie & Fitch’s sale of t-shirts with inappropriate messages written on them. The corporation then settled a class-action lawsuit brought by minority employees in 2004. They assumed Abercrombie & Fitch would assign them to work at the back of the store. The corporation was already well-known for its all-American, primarily white image.
“In every school, there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids,” Michael said in a 2006 interview about people who were overweight and others who were not classically attractive. To be honest, we’re after the cool kids. We’re looking for a gorgeous all-American child with a positive attitude and a large number of pals.
Many people don’t belong [in our attire], and they never will. Are we excluding people? Absolutely. Those in troubled businesses are attempting to reach out to everyone: young, old, overweight, and slim. But then you’re just plain vanilla. You don’t annoy anyone, but you also don’t thrill anyone.”
The company’s profitability was in a steep fall in the early 2010s. A lawsuit around the same time made public a sort of manual for the flight crew of the company’s private plane, which Mike frequently utilised. Employees were required to wear Abercrombie & Fitch clothing, including boxer briefs, according to the policy.
It also stated how they should respond to Mike’s and his guests’ wishes, as well as seating arrangements for his dogs. Mike was relieved of his chairmanship in January 2014, after investors became increasingly dissatisfied.
Abercrombie & Fitch had seen 11 consecutive quarters of comparable sales loss at the conclusion of that year. Mike decided to step down as CEO in December. Other fashion businesses had begun to put pressure on the corporation, and it was being chastised for failing to adapt to changing consumer tastes and preferences.
What Happened to Mike Jeffries and Where Is He Now?
Mike has remained unnoticed since he departed from the organisation. He had a reputation for being extremely quiet, and nothing is known about his personal life. Mike was married and had a son, but they had divorced a long time ago.
Mike then started dating Matthew Smith, whose affiliation with Abercrombie & Fitch raised a lot of eyebrows. His last known whereabouts, according to our information, was in Ohio, where the corporation is headquartered. Mike was also the owner of a home in Manhattan, New York, which he sold in 2016.
