Why Did Christopher Scarver Kill Jeffery Dahmer? Where is Christopher Scarver Now? – The most recent true crime programme on Netflix, “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” tells the tale of one of the most renowned serial killers in American history. Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991 before being apprehended in July 1991 after one of his victims, Tracy Edwards, managed to flee and told the police he believed he was about to be gravely hurt.
In 15 of the 17 killings he admitted to committing, Dahmer filed a plea of guilty but crazy. In February 1992, the jury judged Dahmer sane in every crime, and he was given 15 consecutive life sentences. Dahmer received a total of 941 years in jail, although he only spent a little more than three years before he passed away. Where is Scarver now, and why did he kill Dahmer? Let’s investigate.

Who Killed Jeffrey Dahmer and How did He die?
At Wisconsin’s Columbia Correctional Institution, Dahmer was supposed to serve out his term. Prison officials decided that it was better to keep Dahmer separate from the main population because of the publicity he and his actions had gotten. In protective custody, Dahmer was kept from the other inmates and required to wear a shackle outside his cell.
Dahmer asked for increased freedom of movement and contact with other convicts after his first year in jail. He was allowed to go to classes, eat meals together, and perform labour chores. Dahmer would make fun of the prisoners and use insults like “I bite” while he was incarcerated.
The taunting of Dahmer made one prisoner, Christopher Scarver, uneasy. When Dahmer and two other prisoners, Jesse Anderson and Christopher Scarver, were on cleaning duty in the prison’s gym bathrooms in November 1994, they were all left alone for 20 minutes. Both Dahmer and Anderson’s bodies were pummelling when the jail guards arrived back on duty. Jeffrey Dahmer was killed by Christopher Scarver’s beatings and was declared dead one hour after guards discovered his body.
Why did Christopher Scarver kill Jeffrey Dahmer?
Christopher Scarver explained to the New York Post in 2015 why he decided to kill Jeffrey Dahmer. According to Scarver, he killed Dahmer because of the man’s apparent lack of remorse for the murders he had perpetrated, some of which involved eating and dismembering victims.
According to Scarver, he crossed the line with certain people, including inmates and prison employees. Dahmer was not one of the ashamed prisoners; some inmates are. To play up to his moniker as the Milwaukee Cannibal, he allegedly used ketchup packets to simulate blood and would mould prison meals into the shapes of body parts.
The local pastor Roy Ratcliff, who asserted that Dahmer had a poster for a Cannibals Anonymous Meeting in his cell, corroborated Scarver’s assertions. Gerald Boyle, Dahmer’s attorney, refuted this assertion, who asserted that taunting was not Dahmer’s “style.” According to Boyle, “He killed people, but he didn’t taunt people. I never saw him do anything that would lead me to believe that he would mimic the deaths that he caused. I just don’t believe that.”
Who is Christopher Scarver?
Steven Lohman, a member of the Wisconsin Conservation Corps, was murdered in 1990, and Christopher Scarver was given a life sentence in jail. After being sacked from his work, it was claimed that Scarver started drinking and started hearing voices refer to him as “the chosen one.” When a site manager gave him $15 after Scarver returned to his previous job and demanded money, Lohman was shot thrice.
He was given a life sentence and lodged at Wisconsin’s Columbia Correctional Institution. In 2003, Scarver and thirty other mentally ill offenders were transferred to a facility in Colorado “in response to a class-action complaint filed by the inmates.” In the documentary “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” on Netflix, American actor Furly Mac portrays Scarver.
Scarver allegedly sang as she entered the courtroom and informed the investigators that the attack was not planned in advance. He said that all he was doing was “just yielding to God’s will and that he was nothing more than a tool employed by the spirit.” Some have also proposed that the racial overtones of Dahmer’s and Anderson’s actions served as the catalyst for Scarver’s rage. While Anderson attempted to blame his wife’s death on two black men, most of Dahmer’s victims were people of colour. Scarver, himself a black guy, must have been furious by their behaviour. But there is no evidence to support this notion.
The New York Post reported in 2015 that although Scarver admitted to killing Dahmer and Anderson, he maintains that the jail guard did not unintentionally leave him alone. He remarked, “They had something to do with what happened,” even though he had not stated this in 1994. To prevent retaliation by Wisconsin officials or to escape any punitive situation they could put me in, he continued, “I would need a skilled attorney.” Scarver claims that one of the causes of his mental condition, which multiple jail specialists have examined, is the diet within the facility. “I discovered the root of the issue through my own research: Consuming certain foods, such as refined sugar and bread, makes me experience psychotic breaks. Those are the primary offenders,” he claimed.
Where is Christopher Scarver Today?
The Centennial Correctional Facility in Colorado is where Christopher Scarver is presently completing his term. Before he killed Dahmer and Anderson, he was already incarcerated. He was then given a sentence of two further life sentences in jail. Asserting that they “submitted him to conditions of extreme sensory deprivation and social isolation despite his severe mental illness and were deliberately indifferent to his serious mental health care needs,” Scarver filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility in 2005.
He filed a fruitless appeal in 2006 after a district court judge dismissed his case. Later, Scarver was transferred from the Wisconsin prison along with a few other mentally ill prisoners. He was moved around a bit until he was positioned in the Colorado facility.
Scarver stated in 2012 that he intended to write a book outlining his motivations for killing Dahmer and specifics like Dahmer’s final comments to him. He had been in discussions about a book deal with certain publishers, but nothing has happened as of yet. A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste, Pain: Poetry of Christopher J. Scarver, The Child Left Behind: Poetry of Christopher J. Scarver, and others are among the poetry collections that Scarver has written and self-published in the meantime. He also wrote a book called The Child Left Behind in 2015. Scarver’s son, born not long after his father was initially sent to prison, spoke to CNN in 2014 about how his father has stayed in touch with him and supported him when he felt he was heading in the wrong direction.
