Sarah Staudte, 24, was transported to the hospital in June 2013 after experiencing flu-like symptoms.
However, as her health continued to deteriorate, the authorities were called in to take a closer look.
Sarah had been poisoned, just like her father and older brother, and they soon discovered it. Sarah’s mother and sister poisoned two family members, according to ABC News’ ‘20/20: Home Sweet Murder.’

Sarah Staudte, who is she?
Sarah Staudte is the family’s oldest daughter and one of Mark and Diane’s four daughters. Despite having a French and History degree from Missouri State University in Springfield, Greene County, Sarah had difficulty finding work.
As a result of her mounting school debt, she was forced to return home to live with her family. However, she was admitted to the hospital in June 2013, and physicians rapidly discovered that her kidneys and brain were failing.
Sarah Staudte nearly died after her mom poisoned her with anti-freeze. Sarah told #ABC2020 in 2016 that while her mother and sister took away her livelihood and independence, they did not take away her desire to fulfill her future dreams. https://t.co/cvqZXQCqkr

They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her, so they assumed she’d been poisoned.
Authorities began investigating two more fatalities in the family around the same time. Shaun, Mark’s son, died around five months after Mark died in April 2012.
Sarah later recalled reading something disturbing just before she became ill. “She (Diane) had this journal in which she scribbled… her thoughts,” Sarah explained.
Shaun’s, my brother’s, and my deaths were all written by her. And it was the source of my concern… “I was taken aback.”
An inquiry quickly revealed that this was correct; Diane had poisoned all of them with antifreeze with the help of her other daughter, Rachel.
“I’ve been kind of putting pressure on [Sarah] to get out and get a job,” Diane stated in an interview with the police.
The time has come for you to pay your education fees. I refuse to pay for them. After all, you become tired of doing everything for your children, and it’s as if you need to step up and take charge.” So, after killing Mark and Shaun, Diane resolved to eliminate Sarah.
Nearly six years after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree murder, Diane Staudte said she’s ready to share the chain of events that led to her life imprisonment without parole.

Sarah achieved a full recovery, albeit with major neurological damage, despite the physicians’ predictions that she had a slim chance of surviving.
Diane and Rachel eventually accepted plea bargains for their roles in the crime and were sentenced to life in prison.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t find the confidence to stand up for what was right, to seek help, to protect you and our siblings,” Rachel apologised to her sister. I’m sorry I didn’t have the guts to speak out for what was right, to seek help, and to defend you and our siblings.”

What Happened to Sarah Staudte?
“I want to be a survivor than a victim,” Sarah Staudte stated, despite being horrified and angry by Diane and Rachel’s conduct. Because forgiveness is the correct thing to do, I forgive them for what they did.”
It wasn’t easy for her to recuperate, even though she persevered. Sarah had to learn to walk and talk on her own. She also had a state-appointed guardian and lived in an assisted living facility.
Sarah appears to be feeling much better today. She talked of pursuing her dream of being a French translator and visiting France, in addition to learning the bass guitar and violin.
Sarah worked for a behavioural services organisation in the past and currently lives in Sedalia, Missouri.
Sarah’s Facebook status is set to “single,” despite the fact that she mentioned she was dating someone in October 2021. Regardless, we wish her happiness and tranquilly.
