City on a Hill Season 3: Did Catherine Cathy (Amanda Clayton) Leave the Show?

Amanda Clayton as Cathy Ryan

Did Catherine Cathy (Amanda Clayton) Leave the City on a Hill? – The third season of “City on a Hill” is one of the biggest television releases of July. One of the top criminal dramas of 2019, the Showtime drama, “City on a Hill,” starring Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge was followed by the second season in 2021. A dishonest FBI agent named Jackie Rohr (Bacon) teams up with ADA Decourcy Ward (Hodge) in Boston in the early 1990s.

Together, the officials, as mentioned above, take on a case that transformed the city’s criminal justice system at the violent beginning of the 1990s in Boston. The fact that the series has been extended for a third season is not surprising, given the success of the first two seasons.

Fans were somewhat disappointed by the postponement after it was moved to July 31 from its original July 10 release date. This time around, “City on a Hill” introduces many new characters in addition to a fresh date and plot. Unfortunately, Amanda Clayton, who portrayed Cathy Ryan in Seasons 1 and 2, is among the old characters who leave the show in the meanwhile. We’ve got you covered if you’re wondering if she’s still in “City on a Hill” after that.

What Happened to Cathy

What Happened to Catherine “Cathy” Ryan?

In the second season of “City on a Hill,” Cathy (Amanda Clayton) must overcome an impassable challenge. With her children, she is compelled to relocate to a less desirable area of the city, and business at her hair salon has declined. She reacts in rage and irritation when Jimmy initially arrives. She coerces him into telling her where he obtained the money after learning that he had brought $10,000 for her and the kids, and she later encourages him to buy heroin so she may sell it in her apartment building. Naturally, Jimmy shows up to demand payment because he must pay his own suppliers, but Cathy kills him.

In the “Pax Bostonia” season 2 finale, Cathy lures in Mick Diaz, her newest source, and kills him the same way she did Jimmy. Later, she decides she’s had enough of Boston, packs up her family, and departs for sunny Florida, not before ranting about the city that stole so much from her.

Did Catherine Cathy (Amanda Clayton) Leave the City on a Hill?

Although neither Clayton nor the show’s creators have commented on her exit, Cathy’s storyline appeared to have wrapped up in “City on a Hill,” suggesting that she is most likely no longer a part of the show. In season 2, her husband Frankie is slain off-screen, but Cathy manages to exact revenge on Jimmy, who was responsible for Frankie’s imprisonment. In “City on a Hill,” Cathy becomes one of the special characters who escape Boston unharmed.

Clayton made a point of actively promoting the show on social media during the previous seasons’ airings. With season 3, this isn’t the case. She apparently isn’t identified as a cast member in any of the episodes either. Therefore, it is safe to conclude that she won’t be included in this season. But the likelihood of her joining the cast again in the future is quite low. The story of “City on a Hill” constantly expands and changes. It appears that Cathy and the surviving Ryan family members are no longer a part of the show.

Season 3 of “City on a Hill” debuted on Showtime on July 31, 2022, at 10 p.m. ET.
