Disney’s High School Musical: The Series is a musical mockumentary about high school drama. HSMTM: The Series Season 3 Episode 5 Recap
Gina feels betrayed by E.J. for keeping his dad’s letter from her. She wants to concentrate on Anna, but she will talk to him after rehearsals. E.J. advises adding drama to Corbin and Channing’s reality show to keep it going. Real Campers of Shallow Lake are part of Carlos’ strategy. He creates personalities. Each plays a part. Carlos teaches the Real Housewives’ the fine art of slapping. Since Ricky and E.J. match well, things are not good. Ricky and E.J. should pretend to be actors, according to Carlos. Carlos pays Ashlyn and Maddox a visit. He wants them to seem to share a similar personality.
Given that Maddox and Jet are siblings, this is strange. Carlos withholds information about Real Campers of Shallow Lake from the younger girls. As they complete the first thing on Carlos’ list, Gina tosses a drink at Kourtney. One of the practice situations is ruined by Jet, so Carlos quickly adds a tear and a smack. Gina and Ricky perform the last song. Carlos claims that Ricky still harbours unresolved feelings for Gina, the ex.
Instructing Gina to “torture E.J.,” Carlos, I’m confident I can, says Gina. By adopting the Sven persona, E.J. assists Gina. Gina and Ricky’s duet “What Do You Know About Love”. It is a well-known High School Musical song. Their interplay? Toward the end, Ricky and Gina’s prolonged eye contact is captured on video. Gina then departs. Ricky bolts from the stage. They are experiencing “totally different summers,” Gina tells E.J. E.J. has a chance but keeps St. Louis a secret from her. Ricky’s progress in musical theatre has “impressed” Ashlyn.
Ashlyn mentions Gina and Ricky’s past. Gina and Ricky meet in The Barn. She didn’t anticipate having her first fight with her boyfriend or sharing her “first boyfriend secret” during her summer of firsts. Once more, they hold their gazes too long. Channing requests a group picture. As Ricky and she enter for the group photo, Gina informs E.J. about St. Louis. Channing leaves, allowing everyone to unwind. Kourtney believes they ought to refocus in the wake of the drama. When Carlos notes Kourtney’s “worry,” Kourtney wonders if Gina told him about her meeting with her mother. Maddox admits to formerly enjoying Val to Ashlyn. Laughing, Ashlyn informs Maddox that she is dating. Jet reprimands Maddox. They start fighting in public view.
Their true sibling status is finally revealed. After noticing texts on Maddox’s phone, Jet told their parents about their connection. The news about Jet and Maddox astounded Ricky. E.J. vows he won’t leave Salt Lake City without a fight and tries to explain the letter to Gina. Ashlyn’s revelation of E.J.’s real name, Elton John Caswell, comes as yet another surprise. This is merely another aspect of E.J. Gina was unaware of. Moving away from E.J. is Gina. After watching all this turmoil, younger women are reluctant to join the theatre. Their questions are all answered by Kourtney. Ricky finds Jet skulking.
Ricky ponders Jet’s escape. Jet admits to Maddox that he has been a “bad man” for a very long time and that it is making him miserable. Ricky implores Jet to sing about it, but Jet declines. Following a chaotic rehearsal, Carlos and Ricky unwind. Ricky is no longer able to control his feelings. Carlos claims that while he feigned to appreciate Gina, he wasn’t “acting.” Carlos asserts that he felt something.
Ricky coerces Carlos into promising not to tell, but it’s all for nought because Channing has the entire incident on camera. Ricky was heard on a hot mic! Jet decides to sing about Maddox’s situation while maintaining a front with Ricky. His piano performance is lovely. He has the proper intentions in mind. Jet is heard singing by Maddox, so there is yet hope. E.J. is aware that everything is crumbling in front of him. This play might be destroyed with only one scandal.
