The first LGBTQ+ couple in the franchise, played by Frankie Rodriguez and Joe Serafini, respectively, as Carlos and Seb, joined the cast of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” in 2019. Their on-screen chemistry and romance successfully drew a sizable fan base. Carlos choreographs the East High School performance of High School Musical in season 1 of the program, while Seb plays Sharpay. They learn to know one another along that process. Soon later, they begin dating, fall in love, and attend their homecoming as a couple.

After acting as a pair, Joe and Frankie began to experience romantic chemistry, and a few months later, they began dating. Frankie responded, “We haven’t been terribly covert about it, but we are dating in real life,” when asked whether they are best friends or something more in a May 2021 promotional interview for season 2. One month later, the two opened up to Too Fab about their relationship. Oh, my God. Well, I believe they put Joe on the piano on the first day I worked with him,” Frankie remembered.
“And he was playing some musical theatre stuff while the cameras weren’t filming. Then I thought, “Oh, that’s it.” I’m through. I have a problem. I just had a feeling I was going to like him. Ah, this can’t happen, I thought. He really is a lovely and sweet person. We kind of just got together as friends after beginning as friends, you know?” continued Frankie.
Joe remarked, “(Frankie) is so confident and humorous,” in response to the same query. Everyone just laughs and enjoys themselves when he’s around, he said.
When asked about his on-screen romance in December 2019, Frankie said, “[The series is] really bringing light on what high school life is like right now and making sure that those kids who have never seen themselves on-screen have, finally, someone to connect to.”
In a different interview from May 2021 with POPSUGAR, Joe also talked about making Seb and Carlos’s love story come true. After all, “they’re both such innocent, decent personalities,” the actor said. They are drama kids, after all. It’s just extremely entertaining to see them figure out how to express their feelings for one another, but of course, it comes with questions and the tendency to second-guess everything.

Joe continued by saying that at first, he was a little scared by Frankie, but over time they both came to understand that their bond goes beyond simple friendship. “We began as close friends and gradually understood that perhaps we should go on a date or something! [Laughs] Both on the show and building our personal connection off of it, we really like each other and simply have a great time, “Joe told Entertainment Weekly. It is only reasonable for their followers to question whether Frankie and Joe are still romantically linked, considering that it has been more than a year since they publicly declared their love for one another.
According to Frankie, the kiss “wasn’t” choreographed; instead, our creator, Tim Federle, pulled us aside and said, “We earned it,” in an exclusive interview with J-14. Of course, we were willing and incredibly eager to participate in making Disney history, which is ridiculous to say.
The legendary #Seblos kiss occurred during Pride Month, although that wasn’t intentional, as show viewers quickly pointed out on social media.
