Season 2 of ‘Euphoria‘ takes the teen drama’s storey in intriguing new directions. After being an important feature of the first season, it appears that Nate Jacobs’ sexuality will be a forgotten narrative threat for the majority of the season.
Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) goes through numerous ups and downs in the second season, but the penultimate episode leaves him completely mortified, thanks to Lexi’s brilliant play.
Nonetheless, Nate’s sexuality seemed to have been reignited by the provocative moments from Lexi’s play directed towards him.
Here’s everything you need to know about Nate from ‘Euphoria’ if you’re wondering if he’s gay!
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Is Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, gay in euphoria?
In ‘Euphoria,’ Jacob Elordi, of ‘The Kissing Booth‘ fame, plays Nathaniel “Nate” Jacobs. Nate is a high school football player who struggles with his temper. He had an on-again, off-again romance with Maddy in the first season.
However, in the first season finale, the two decide to call it quits on their relationship. Nate starts hooking up with Cassie in the second season.
Nate keeps things private since he is afraid of Maddy’s response if they fall in love. Nate also witnesses his father, Cal Jacobs, suffering a nervous breakdown and fleeing their home.
Lexi’s play comes to a close in the penultimate episode of season 2 with a spectacular dance number. The semi-autobiographical play is inspired by the lives of Lexi and her pals.
Nate’s gayness is hinted at in the dance sequence, which includes some suggestive moves. Nate is greatly affected by the performance, storming out of the theatre, causing admirers to conclude that Nate’s outbursts are due to his secret homosexuality.
At a young age, Nate was exposed to films of his father having sex with young men. Nate’s mind was injured as a result of the incident, and he began to search for his sexual identity.
Nate’s father’s goal to make him a star football player may conflict with Nate’s views regarding his sexual identity, causing him to get enraged. Nate has private images of numerous men on his phone in season one, as viewers can see.
Furthermore, when Maddy hints that he is unsure about his sexuality, he threatens her. Any talk that suggests Nate might be homosexual is traumatic for him, and he frequently lashes out.
As a result, despite the symptoms, Nate hasn’t fully explored his sexuality to the point where we can call him gay. Elordi has steered clear of a categorical statement about his character’s sexuality.
Nate has also had serious relationships with women. He has feelings for Maddy, Cassie, and Jules, indicating that he is attracted to women.
Nate, on the other hand, has never had any sexual relationships with guys, implying that he is not gay. Nate doesn’t seem to have to force himself through his romantic and sexual contacts with women, despite the fact that he has yet to accept his sexuality.
As a result, it’s safe to assume that if Nate decides to investigate his sexuality, he’ll identify as bisexual rather than homosexual.
‘Euphoria’ has been renewed for a 3rd season, so viewers may expect more episodes in which Nate explores his sexuality.
