How Did James Langley Die?
Unfortunately, James Langley was the unfortunate victim of a terrible assault on December 14, 2006. By the hands of his wife, Mary Ann Langley, he was put to death. Their marriage lasted almost 25 years.
Mary Ann, James’ wife, was enraged with him for apparently having an affair. James’ body was doused in gasoline, which she set ablaze in a fit of wrath before lighting the flames with a match. When the inquiry began, it appeared to be a horrific accident; however, when they dug deeper into the case, they concluded that Mary’s claims about her marriage to James were false.
She initially told the investigators that their marriage used to experience typical disagreements and minor troubles before changing her story. Later, she said that James had acted very cruelly toward her and that there had been times when she wanted to stab him. The investigators had doubts about Mary Ann due to her inconsistent claims.
Who Killed James Langley and Why?
Multiple pieces of evidence that suggested the occurrence was a murder and not an accident were amassed by investigators. But when Sheila Polite and Rodney Polite came forward with their testimony, the detectives received the most critical piece of evidence.
They were both neighbours and family members of Mary and James. They heard Mary scream in terror and went to Langley’s house. When they arrived, they observed James with a nearly melted stomach and could smell gasoline permeating their home.
Additionally, they overheard James utter some crucial things about the person who lit him on fire.
James reportedly told Sheila the next while in excruciating pain, “He slept when he saw Mary pour gasoline or another substance on him. He saw Mary pour the substance on him and set him ablaze.”
Rodney claimed that James Langley told him the following things, “I am aware of the events. Ann lit a fire under me.”
Along with other pieces of evidence, these statements assisted the detectives in resolving the problematic case. Mary Ann was imprisoned and sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2009. She was incarcerated when she passed away on October 25, 2021.
Where is Mary Ann Langley Now?
