Outlander Season 7 Renewed or Cancelled? What is the release date? Let’s find out. Starz’s historical programme ‘Outlander‘ is based on Diana Gabaldon’s eponymous novel series and follows Claire, a former Second World War military medic who is transported back to 18th century Scotland.
Claire begins a romance with Jamie Fraser, a Highland warrior who joins the Jacobite uprising against the British monarchy. The series follows Claire’s life as she marries Jamie and starts a family while witnessing numerous key historical events that rewrite the destiny of Scotland, Britain, and the New World.
The show was created by Ronald D. Moore and premiered on August 9, 2014. The four-time Emmy-nominated period drama received widespread praise from critics and spectators, particularly for the core cast’s performances and the fascinating historical storyline.
The sixth season of the show ends on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers curious about the possibility of a seventh season. So, here’s all you’ll need to know about it!

Release Date for Outlander Season 7
Season 6 of ‘Outlander’ started on Starz on March 6, 2022, and ended on May 1, 2022. The sixth season consists of eight episodes, each lasting 58–81 minutes.
Here’s all we know about the seventh season thus far. The seventh season of ‘Outlander’ will premiere on Starz on March 14, 2021. “We’re ecstatic that Starz has given us the chance to continue the great ‘Outlander’ adventure.”
“We can’t wait to go into the writers’ room and start breaking Echo in the Bone, and we look forward to bringing the fans another season of this amazing narrative,” showrunner Matthew B. Roberts said in a statement released following the renewal announcement.
In addition, the seventh round’s production is said to have begun in Scotland in early April 2022. The next season will consist of 16 episodes. Starz announced in October 2021 that the series would broadcast in late 2022 or early 2023.

Season 7 of ‘Outlander’ is set to premiere in last quarter of 2022 or in the first quarter of 2023, assuming the new season’s production goes according to plan.
‘Outlander’ may go much deeper than its seventh season, according to the show’s most devoted fans. Nine books have been published in the eponymous source novel series, with a tenth on the way. As a result, there’s a chance that the show will last for ten seasons.
Furthermore, Jeffrey Hirsch, Starz’s president and CEO, told Deadline in January 2020, “We think there’s a lot of opportunity in the Outlander world for story extensions, spin-offs, or sequels, and we continue to look at that and communicate with our colleagues at Sony.” As a result, we may see the historical drama’s universe expand beyond season 7.
Who is in the Cast of Outlander Season 7?
In the seventh round, the show’s principal characters – Caitrona Balfe (Claire Beauchamp Fraser), Sam Heughan (Jamie MacKenzie Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Fraser MacKenzie), and Richard Rankin (Roger MacKenzie) – will repeat their roles. Lord John Grey’s actor, David Berry, has also confirmed his comeback.
César Domboy (Fergus), Lauren Lyle (Marsali), Caitlin O’Ryan (Lizzie), John Bell (Young Ian), Paul Gorman (Josiah/Keziah Beardsley), and Chris Larkin (Richard Brown) are also set to return. Mark Lewis Jones (Tom Christie), Alexander Vlahos (Allan Christie), and Glen Gould (Chief Bird) are among those who could return in the seventh season. Jessica Reynolds (Malva), on the other hand, may not return because her character died in season 6. On the other hand, in the coming season, we can expect to see some new faces.
What Could the Plot of Outlander Season 7 Be?
Richard Brown arrives at Fraser’s Ridge to arrest Claire for Malva’s murder at the end of the sixth season of the show. Claire is accompanied to the court in Wilmington by Jamie and Tom Christie to prevent Richard from injuring her. Richard orders his troops to take Jamie aboard a ship destined for Scotland halfway through the journey to prevent him from saving his wife from the trial and the hanging.
Richard takes Claire to Wilmington prison without Jamie. Young Ian saves his uncle with the help of Chief Bird, and his fighters before Richard’s men force Jamie to board the ship. They start their trek to Wilmington together in order to save Claire.
Claire’s arrest is expected to be addressed in the upcoming season of the show. Tom Christie might be able to save her. If the season sticks to the plot of season 7’s source book, ‘An Echo in the Bone,’ we might see Roger, Brianna, and their family return to the twentieth century. Claire and Jamie might become entangled in the Revolutionary War and end up in Scotland. Fergus, Marsali, and their children may also relocate from New Bern to Philadelphia.
