What Happens to Kim Wexler? Is Kim Wexler Dead or Alive? – Kimberly “Kim” Wexler is a made-up character from the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul on the AMC network. Rhea Seehorn plays the main role of Kim, who was developed by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. She is a lawyer and later marries Jimmy McGill / Saul Goodman, with whom she had a romantic relationship. Critics and viewers alike have praised Seehorn’s portrayal of Kim and her performance as a whole, earning her multiple awards (including a pending Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series nomination). She is regarded as one of the greatest fictional characters ever created for television.
She doesn’t appear in the first season of the “Breaking Bad” series, despite being a significant part of the prequel. This has generated a lot of uncertainty regarding her fate. The fans are worried that Kim will have a horrific conclusion given how brutally cruel that universe is to most of its inhabitants. Most of this is addressed in “Better Call Saul” season 6 episode 9, “Fun and Games.” What you need to know about it is listed below.

What Happens to Kim Wexler?
Better Call Saul’s story has included Kim from the beginning. There are two primary stories in the show. The latter story is about Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), who goes from being a parking lot attendant to being a feared enforcer and hitman for Gus Fring. The former story revolves around Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) and his transformation into Saul Goodman. A fundamental component of the former is Kim.
She works as a lawyer at Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill at the beginning of the series (HHM). We find that Jimmy’s decision to pursue a legal degree was motivated by the story of her rise from being an intern at the same firm to becoming a lawyer. Later, Jimmy uses some of her personality traits in the creation of Saul Goodman.
While Kim is usually a force for good, providing pro bono services and aiding those in need of legal counsel, she also has a darker side to her personality that she partly inherited from her con artist mother. These sinister traits become more apparent due to her friendship with Jimmy. Kim and Jimmy come up with a scheme in season 6 to take the Sandpiper case away from Howard Hamlin. They are aware that Howard’s reputation will be destroyed by the drug use allegations, which will inevitably lead to his financial collapse. But Kim and Jimmy are content with that result.
Lalo emerges and kills Howard as he enters their home to confront them about their deception. Later, Howard’s wife is persuaded by Kim and Jimmy that he is using cocaine. Despite learning that Lalo is still alive, neither Kim nor Jimmy can foresee what will happen next. Kim’s life has followed a similar path as Walter White’s. Fortunately for her, unlike Walter, she pulls herself away just before falling into total darkness.
Kim dissolves her marriage and gives up the law altogether. Before disclosing she kept Lalo’s existence from him because she knew he would put her safety above all else and get away right away, she accurately informs Jimmy that they are toxic to others around them. She was having too much fun doing that, so she didn’t want to. Ironically, though her deeds may have spared her soul, they also appear to have been a significant factor in Jimmy’s complete transition into Saul Goodman.
Is Kim Wexler Dead or Alive?
Kim is still alive as of episode 9 of season 6. There are four episodes left, so anything is possible, given the show’s penchant for shocking viewers. It’s interesting to note that series co-creator Vince Gilligan stated in an interview with The Sunday Morning Herald that if they created another spinoff, it would be about Kim.
“She [Seehorn] can be absolutely emotional and delightfully humorous. She simply has this unbelievable range so that she can do anything. As one of the original two viewers of Better Call Saul, I personally want to know more about Kim, see her, and discover more about her. The Kim Wexler show would be a good candidate for a spinoff,” he suggested.
Odenkirk expressed his wish for a reunion between Kim and Jimmy in Gene Takavic to Entertainment Weekly. Even Seehorn admitted in 2022 that she would be thrilled to portray the role once more. Therefore, there is a good chance that Kim Wexler will survive “Better Call Saul” and eventually have her own show.
